Jecki Lon Memorial Star Wars Thread

Not really.

So i've been browsing Reddit and imgur and I'm reminded of the love of Boba Fett.

I admit as a kid I loved Boba Fett, it's probably his armor. That or the Jetpack. But in the movies. BOba Fett basically sucks. He stalked solo successfully, had Vader and the Empire do all the work freezing him, then pretty much with limited fight took him to Tatooine. Where he was pretty cheaply killed.

Why were we and are still people drawn to him? He didn't show any particular skills he wasn't involved with any key dialogue.

As I grew up my opinions on Star Wars changed. As a young kid I loved Luke, as I grew into my teens I realize Han Solo was the best, as I am an adult it's Darth Vader.Boba Fett went from liked, to cool in EU to eh. I personally think that Pre Vizsla was a way cooler Mandalorian.

I get what you mean. I think that's one of the reasons they are doign the solo movie for him. To flesh out that character even more for the actual cannon. But as far why we were drawn to him then and even now? It's Star Wars man. Characters that are in the movie for 10 seconds have entire wiki pages on them. It's just the power of that franchise.

Lor San Tekka was in force awakens for 2 minutes and has a bunch on his wiki page already

That's because he was more fleshed out in other comics, database, and books. With the deleted EU so far for Boba we have a few things in Clone Wars and that's about it.

I know the general idea why people are drawn to him. And maybe the dumb Jango clone and petulant child thing turned me off of him, but I just wanted to vent my concern. Will be interesting to see where they go in his stand alone. I'm guessing it's pre-Solo mission. I heard it tracks all the stuff he did before showing up in Empire including his stuff for Jabba where he made his showign in ANH.

So Abrams said that no one in TFA is Rey's Parents. Then backtracked on that.

I'm still hoping for a Kenobi, but I still think Luke. Maybe he doesn't even know that he's the father because the mother left him or something like that.

Boba Fett was popular before his appearance in ESB (and he was originally supposed to appear in ANH). There was a lot of hype surrounding his live-action debut in ESB, and originally he was supposed to have a much larger role, perhaps even being the main villain with Vader being the continuing recurring villain (see: Tarkin and Palpatine in IV and VI).

EW released details on rogue one characters including a big reveal on Forrest Whittaker's character being a tie in to the Clone Wars. Also Vader confirmed as well. Hopefully it's ass kicking vader.

slightly off topic:

the new maps for the Battlefront game of Cloud City are amazing

Saw a theory that Rey is the grandaughter of Palpatine and it made a lot of sense

Considering the accent I wouldn't be surprised if it's Palpatine or Obi-Wan.

Obi Wan had a love interest in one of the animated shows. Palpatine learned how to create life.

Spoilers, she died and had no kids. Though maybe they had a secret kid or some **** like that.

It could.

I also think the other thing not being considered by many is what if Rey's parents are inconsequential. What if she's just a Padme/Leia/Han/etc. She's an important character to drive the story but not the focus. What if the tale of this new trilogy is the redemption of Ben Solo. Rey is important, maybe she turns to the dark side and ousts him and he has to fight his way up to the top to destroy Snoke and Rey. Or any other way.

I've read some theories that Rey turns to the dark side in Ep8. The rumored title was Fall of the Resistance. So thinking it will have am empire feeling to it.

I find it hard to believe Rey is inconsequential.

Star Wars is basically the story of the Skywalker family. So she has to be connected to someone from the past whether it's Kenobi, Palpatine, or Luke.
