Jorge Soler to the Angels

Saves a lot of money here. We figured Soler was a goner but man that was fast. AA coming out of the gate hot. I like it.

The return is odd. Canning’s expected to make $5.1M and isn’t any better of an option than our current cheaper #5 options.

Well, I thought Rey Lopez was odd and Chris Sale was a huge gamble, so maybe he knows something we don't.

Wouldn't be surprised if Canning is dealt elsewhere or maybe even non-tendered. Soler's money being gone is the big thing. It's interesting to me how little AA trades for other team's prospects. Would've rather had a minor league lottery ticket or two rather than Canning, but at least the money is gone.

They might see something in Canning. He was a 2nd round pick and had decent K numbers in the past. Who knows.

Can he not be dumped? He’s going into his last year of arb.

Yeah he can be non-tendered. It just seems odd cause the Angels could’ve done the same.

Maybe he’ll be flipped or maybe they see a reliever option. I guess we’ll find out.

The main takeaway is we’ll be going after an OF this off-season. We’re not starting the season with Kelenic and Ramon.

Think this is more about clearing out Soler's money, than actual Canning himself. But interesting first move by AA.

Canning was a decent prospect once upon a time. He’s been in one of the worst orgs. Depending on cost, I could see keeping him if he can be sent to the minors to work on things.
