July International Signees

Kiley McDaniel posted a new article on July 2 signings that includes a sortable projection board. He's got 3 guys projected to go to the Braves: Derian Cruz ($2m), Christian Pache ($1.4m), and Juan Morales $450k. This would blow away the Braves bonus pool of $2,458,400, so be on the lookout for us to trade for bonus pool money. I would not be surprised if we already had a trade like this lined up, which could in part explain John Hart's "stay tuned" comment.

He's projecting the Cubs, Dodgers, and Royals to exceed their pool. Check out this quote from Kiley in the comments: "the Dodgers have offered over $100 million in the last 6 months to almost every single top player on the market, never once being outbid." Wow.

Does that $2.45 million figure include the pool money we already got in trades? I know we got pool money in the Kimbrel deal, and we may have gotten some in one or two other deals as well. So that figure may not be accurate. With our sights set on 2016, we definitely won't go over this year, and our plan all along has been to sign Cruz and Pache, so I assume we have it all worked out.

I'm really excited about the prospect of having Pache... sounds like he has a ridiculous tool set and could advance quickly for his age.

Olivera sure has gotten off to a hot start at AA/AAA for the Dodgers... but where in the world are they going to play him? Guess it was all about the money for him... sure wasn't about playing potential in his few high production years he has left.

Kiley McDaniel thinks we're gonna be huge players for Maitan and may already have a deal in place with him

I saw where he said there were a number of teams speculated to have already offered him 7 figures... I didn't see where he speculated the Braves were one of those teams... just that they'd be very active.

Were I him, at 28 and coming off a potentially career-ending injury while making pocket change in Cuba, I think I'd have made the same call.

I still hate it we missed out on him, he'd look great at third for us for a while and would make our line-up very solid. Oh well.

Yeah sorry about that, Cruz is who I meant. Kiley has both of them in his top 11 overall it looks like. That would be one heck of a July 2 for us.

Bigger haul than we have had in a long time to be sure....

How old are these guys?

Will all or most of the signings for the July 2 international signing period happen on the 2nd, or will this take a while?
