July International Signees

http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/international-forecasts-30-teams-2/

New BA article forecasting landing spots for INTL signees...not sure if there is any new info or not. Behind pay wall.

The three players they are favored t sign are Derian Cruz (Dominican SS expected to go for $2M), Christian Pasche (Dominican CF expected to get close to 1.5M) and Juan Morales (Venezuelan SS expected to go for half a mil). That would exhaust their slot funds for this year. There continues to be speculation we will vastly exceed slot next yar.

It'll be interesting to see if there is a trade we have queued up for international slot money that gets announced tomorrow. The teams with signing restrictions are the Rays, Angels, Diamondbacks, Red Sox and Yankees. So those clubs would be the most likely trading partners for international slots.

Slot money was included in the Kimbrel deal, and I believe some was included from the D-Backs in the Cahill deal. We may have had it included in the Toussaint deal as well. It's safe to say we know we can sign these 3 and not go over our slot.

LaStella deal had some I thought.

Yep. It's already rumored that they have locked up Kevin Maitan already.

No... That has been overstated... McDaniel speculated that the Braves have shown quite a bit of interest and that multiple teams may have already floated seven figure offers his way. There has been no legit rumor that we have actually locked him up. One poster turned that into "Atlanta has a deal in place."

Edit: Okay... so some dude on Twitter is claiming that the Braves have a handshake deal with him in place. His twitter name is JerryInSpace... and have no idea if he's legit or not. He claims that Keith Law says the Braves have a deal in place for $4 million plus. Don't know if I buy it considering he's the only source I can find and he's not any kind of insider or writer.

Also, if there ends up being an international draft like MLB is talking about next year... it won't matter anyways. We won't have a shot.

I definitely didn't notice that you posted about this already. I stumbled across the Keith Law report and I figured it deserved a thread of its own.

The international draft wouldn't be instituted until the next CBA, and the current one doesn't expire until December 2016. That means that the last big signing period will occur with J2 2016 class - Maitan's class.

Fantastic news... I'm sorry I doubted. Sounds legit... still worry things could change in a year when its only a handshake and cannot be official yet.

We also got Cristian Pache for $1.4 million according to Jesse Sanchez. If our pool is $2.4 million, we need to trade for another $1 million in order to sign Maitan next year.
Edit: Looks like $2.4 million was our assigned pool and doesn't include the space we've already traded for.

Derian Cruz No. 5 on BBA's Int'l prospects list. Only 16, but 6-0, 185!

Some of the other signings, per Ben Badler:

No. 6 Gregory Guerrero to the Mets
No. 23 Rafael Marchan to the Phillies
No. 19 Carlos Vargas to Mariners
No. 28 Jose Fermin to Indians
No. 3 Leodys Taveras to Rangers ($2.1 million)
No. 8 Starling Heredia to Dodgers
No. 9 Wander Javier to Twins
Cuban Yadier Alvarez to Dodgers
No. 12 Aradis Ademan to Cub

Pache is confirmed from twitter I saw. Sorry if this has been posted.

I like being active on this front.
