Legalization thread

It happens more than you think... alot depends on the state. I guarantee if you're caught with almost any amount of weed in Texas, you're probably going to jail. Best case scenario you basically get a $1000+ fine. That's ****ing ridiculous

Simple possession is a misdemeanor in Texas. It’s a ticket. It’s a cite and release.

That must be new because 2 years ago I had a friend arrested in Texas who had to stay in jail for a weekend because he had CBD gummies and a gram of weed. I also never said it was more than a misdemeanor... you realize you can go to jail for misdemeanor's right? Its usually up to the officer to make the judgment call.

Had another friend who arrested with only CBD gummies last year in South Dakota... lol...

And Cbd gummies was what got them in trouble not the weed.

"Currently in Texas, possession of up to 2 ounces of marijuana is a Class B misdemeanor, which can be punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine. House Bill 441, authored by state Rep. Erin Zwiener, D-Driftwood, would reduce possession of 1 ounce or less to a Class C misdemeanor, which carries no jail time."

The bill passed the House but not the Senate... in Texas if you have 2 oz or less its 180 days in jail or $2000 fine. Again... you have no idea what you're talking about like half the crap you spew on here

What are people doing?

Smoking out in public during the daytime?

It just seems so weird that people are getting busted for smoking or possession.

For my friend in South Dakota he was stopped for speeding storm chasing and the car was searched... they found the CBD gummies and arrested him lol.

The people cop an attitude, show thier Ass, have prior records, have other stuff they get arrested for along with just ‘simple weed’.

Zb said its a judgement call. It is.

Yes. Cbd gummies is a different drug and charge than weed. That’s my point, If your friend had a small bag of weed and only weed, there’s no proof he would had gotten arrested.

No no no... you told me it never happens. Also, I know that neither one of my friends had a previous record or copped an attitude... I'm sure there was some quota to fill. In the Texas case, they led him believe he would just get a $2000 ticket... but when he called it in, his Sherriff said he wanted to bring him in for a night.

Right that's even more of a travesty considering CBD has zero psychoactive ingredients and has only health benefits. That was just South Dakota... the Texas arrest was specifically for weed. CBD is legal in Texas dude. South Dakota is pretty much the only state left who has outlawed CBD... you're not helping your argument at all. I think it is pretty clear you are speaking on a subject you have little to zero knowledge about.

I think someone smoking in their basement has a 0.0001% chance of being arrested and going to jail

But I also believe those chances are too high

I don't remember that being a debate... but as always thanks for your high level contribution

You want to know a trick the NYPD used after NYC decriminalized? It was legal to have as long as it wasn't in plain view. So cops would tell people it's not a big deal of you have some weed on you, just pull it out and show us it's not a big deal. Then when the person shows them they arrest them because it's now in plain view. They were making 80k arrests a year AFTER decriminilizing.
