Let's Talk About Media

I generally like Poso, but he's been ridiculous about Russia and Ukraine. Trying to paint Vlad as the victim of US aggression while he has half of his army surrounding Ukraine on 3 sides is a bit silly.

It's because he's a troll, all he wants to do is "own the libs" as it's his brand. He's discount Ben Shapiro.

So punishment should determine on whether or not the lie got the goods on someone or not? Are you for real?

I constantly complain that the punishment for violating peoples rights is a slap on the wrist. I think its BS the government gets to tell you how much having your rights violated is worth if you sue and the government gets to choose if the perpetrator is even prosecuted. I am all for fixing that. Problem is the police union says penalties for violating peoples rights makes it too hard to do their job.

They absolutely know they are going to be demolished in the mid-terms. This is the last time the communists will have power in America again.

Its going to get much much worse guys.

Oh, it will trick the morons, alright

Honestly what is the leftist explanation for this that is not "they are lying to help a political party"

And once you accept that they are lying, how can that trust ever be rebuilt?

I dunno, ask a Right Winger how they accept Fox News. I guess I just don’t spend a ton of time worrying about CBS News.

That did not answer my question

If I can be quite honest, I legitimately don’t know enough about CBS to answer the question. I never watch it, rarely see anything online from its journalists and never seek out its online content.

Do you think their headline quotes was a legitimate offer at truth or a defense of a political party?

Neither, but if I had to choose, I’d say the latter. It is not a good headline, but there’s some truth to the idea that the Ukraine crisis has exacerbated other issues. The reason I say neither is that the Ukraine story is a popular news item. Using that newsworthy story and attaching it to the everyday lives of the readers is bound to get views. It’s also helpful for the Left, but I think that’s secondary to what their real aim is.

I think you need to come to grips that ALL media has an agenda... And this can no longer be trusted in any capacity.

When they tell you you're going to die from a pandemic, you can no longer trust them. When they tell you democracy is under attack from the right. You can't trust them. And when they tell you that democracy dies unless Americans get involved in a war in Ukraine, you can no longer trust them

I started this thread because the media has proven they will lie to you. And their lies tend to always serve the government agenda.

Make of that what you will

Have I not?

I believe that pretty much all media has some sort of agenda, and that agenda is to appeal to their audience whether it’s entirely accurate or not.

The only way in which I disagree with you is on the primary motivation. I think if CBS or NBC or CNN felt their bottom line would be padded more by serving Conservative interests, they’d be doing that in a heartbeat. However, Fox got there first and did it better than they could ever dream. There’s obviously some actual bias for the sake of carrying water for their “team” but I think the primary driver is their audience being more willing to provide engagement on articles that lean a certain way.

My larger point here is can you trust any media on things like vaccines, COVID, and war?

They are liars

In totality? Absolutely ****ing not. However, just because there might be a bias at play, it doesn’t directly follow that every word written is a lie. I obviously think Fox is a bunch of lying liars, but they do still throw out some accurate, well-sourced reports. There still is some journalism happening out there, it’s just hard to sort out, and I don’t think anybody should accept things on blind faith in the integrity of the publications on either side.
