Let's Talk About Media

I'm not talking about what things we SHOULD discuss by those standards, but about things that unequivocally HAVE gotten airtime under that standard. Hmmm...Obama's birth certificate. Voter fraud. Seth Rich's murder. Uranium One. Deep State conspiracies against Trump.

These are all pie-in-the-sky conservative fever dreams, yet all of them get big airtime. Weird that you think it's worth posting about this, but not those, in your media criticism thread.

I'm thrilled to hear you care about intellectual honesty again!

(but I thought the graphic was hilarious where the channel says in the headline "unlikely but possible..."

How three conspiracy theorists took 'Q' and sparked Qanon
Pushing the theory on to bigger platforms proved to be the key to Qanon’s spread — and the originators’ financial gain.

In November 2017, a small-time YouTube video creator and two moderators of the 4chan website, one of the most extreme message boards on the internet, banded together and plucked out of obscurity an anonymous and cryptic post from the many conspiracy theories that populated the website's message board.

Over the next several months, they would create videos, a Reddit community, a business and an entire mythology based off the 4chan posts of “Q,” the pseudonym of a person claiming to be a high-ranking military officer. The theory they espoused would become Qanon, and it would eventually make its way from those message boards to national media stories and the rallies of President Donald Trump.

Now, the people behind that effort are at the center of a fractious debate among conspiracy enthusiasts, some of whom believe the three people who first popularized the Qanon theory are promoting it in order to make a living. Others suggest that these original followers actually wrote Q’s mysterious posts.

Is it standard procedure to do a background check on everyone entering the hospital or was it because he was one of "them"?

Why are ICE agents arresting him? Isn't that what the police are for?

That's not the point... The point is the media consistently left out a fairly critical detail about WHY he was arrested

Left out ?
Do you think the outlets knew and intentionally "left out"

I find it adorable you think yourself an impartial bystander

In an initial statement, ICE said that Arrona-Lara was awaiting deportation proceedings, but did not delve into the reasoning behind his arrest. In a second statement released later on Saturday, the agency said that he is wanted for murder in Mexico. “ICE continues to focus its enforcement resources on individuals who pose a threat to national security, public safety and border security,” that statement read.

Emilio Amaya, the couples’ legal representative, told NBC News that he could not find any outstanding warrants for Arrona-Lara in Mexico. He also criticized ICE’s handling of the arrest.

........
edit:
ICE original paperwork had no mention of pending Mexican warrant. That was brought up once bad publicity spread like wildfire.
(True or not )
That was why there was no mention of an outstanding warrant because ICE didn't make the claim for hours.
So to be correct, ICE "left out a fairly critical detail "

I know what you meant and agree with you. I didn't read the articles. Did they leave it out there too or was it just click bait?

By the way - I dont like ICE... but this is a thread about media

yet you take ICE word over Arona-Lara's counsel ?
just like you take Trump's word over and over and over
then qualify with "I dont really like Trump but ... "

gotcha

put your damn pitchfork away and let this play out.
Also, please stop taking this administrations word on, anything

Can't wait to hear that tape though... Right after the pee tape and the German intel

Do we know yet the particulars of the alleged murder or do we take ICE's word at face value ----

Or was the man your garden variety Mexican rapist?

I thought the media was to supposed to report facts.

Not editorialize or make assumptions.

The fact is, ICE says the guy they arrested was wanted for murder.

That's not worth mentioning in your opinion?

You guys are pathetic.
