Let's Talk About Media

The sequence as I see it:

1) A couple posters hold up Ron Paul as a source of information that serves as a useful balance to mainstream media bias

2) A poster points out that in the clip Paul is pushing the idea that chemical attacks in Syria are being conducted under a false flag

3) One of Paul's supporters responds by asking if the US has ever conducted a false flag operation

It is all good as discussion board banter goes. I would humbly suggest, however, that 2 is a much more germane response to 1 than 3 is to 2. ymmv

I would also make the observation that if a particular poster cared about being credible in arguing that our media are awful, that maybe it would not be good for that poster's credibility to hold up RT and Ron Paul as correctives to the biases of the mainstream media. Once again ymmv.

I think the media treatment of Ron Paul is evidence in itself how bad our media is.

As far as US coverage is concerned, I've found RT to be pretty good.ymmv

maybe I've been brainwashed by the mainstream media but I find Ron Paul to be a crackpot and view coverage that exposes this as fair and accurate...i guess we have some differences in how we see Ron Paul and coverage of Ron Paul

there is a serious issue about how to cover lunatics...as is the case with the current occupant of the Oval Office...you can either tiptoe around it or cover it for what it is...

I'd love for you expound on why Ron Paul is a crack pot but Bernie Sanders is legit.

I know y'all hate the Constitution but until now you've at least tried to hide it

to believe that Ron Paul is a crackpot does not exclude believing Bernie is one too...i consider both to be crackpots...but I respect their right to be part of political discourse and the rights of their followers to expound upon their virtues

But the media has treated them very differently

The voters should get to decide not the media. I can handle my guy not winning. Happens all the time as a libertarian. What I cant accept is him not getting a fair shake and the shenanigans that went on to sabotage him. Thats not democracy. If he is a crackpot then they would have tried to stop him by giving him more coverage. God knows everytime Trump said something crazy they covered it 24/7 eventhough he was not considered a serious candidate by many people.

Gary Johnson never really had a chance. I can accept him not getting covered, but Ron had a chance to win the nomination. He had a very strong and passionate grass roots campaign.

yes the voters should decide and I think it would make sense for them to get theirs news from a variety of sources

but if a candidate exhibits erratic behavior and puts out a program where the numbers dont add up the media should include that in their coverage

btw I had a high regard for Weld...I was living in MA when he was guv

Johnson not so much...I thought he was a flake which I suppose is one step up from crackpot

Weld would be a good president imo...bright...excellent temperment... open to ideas

I dont understand you people Gary Johnson is just a sane Republican. What makes McCain, Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, and Palin acceptable candidates and Gary Johnson one step from a crackpot?
