Let's Talk About Media

Incoming CNN boss Chris Licht plans to nix the network's left-leaning commentary when he assumes the role of president this May, insiders say, and has already engaged in talks with rival Fox News about halting its aggressive coverage of them.

Former CBS exec Licht, 50, who headed Stephen Colbert's Late Show for six years until it was announced he was replacing ousted boss Jeff Zucker last month, has already begun closed door conversations with key figures close to the conservative news network, two sources close to the matter told The Daily Beast Tuesday.

Licht reportedly told certain Fox reporters and agents to breathe a little easier because he is working towards a ceasefire after his network's unrelenting negative coverage of the competing news station.

Wow. He’s already calling FOx and apologizing to them about his ****ty CNN is

The leftist representation in the country is severely overstated. Nobody shows up for their events. Nobody watches their news programs. Nobody watches the parties streamed campaign events. It’s all a lie.

Yeah, it’s nice not being part of a cult

its 2022

people spend their money and entertainment in different ways.

not everyone has the time of a 60 year old person to sit and watch all 4 hours of prime time talk shows.

the idea millennials are going to watch the same amount of cable news as older people and boomers is hilarious.

I can read the news in a few minutes every few hours a day on my phone than have to watch someone tell me the news and interview several guests to get their opinion on it too.

my father watches Fox News all day. Constantly tells me I don’t know what’s going on in the world. I probably read more about the rest of the world in an hour on various news articles than he gets watching hannity ingraham Tucker for 3 hours. I don’t argue and just let him continue to think he’s more informed than he is. It’s not worth getting into a shout fest about.

you people aren’t living in reality.

there’s a reason the 18-49 demographic is the most sought out. Fox News probably gets more overall viewers but networks care more about the 18-32 and 18-49 because you know… those people actually spend money everyday not sit in front of a tv listening to hannity.

Doesn’t tucker have the highest ratings in that demographic?

Fox has better ratings in those demographics than the other guys. Maddow and O’Donnell bothpull .13, while tucker and The Five are both in the .30’s.

They don't understand it yet because they are still in their bubble.

The country has moved DRASTICALLY towards the right.

The fact that he's coming from Colbert's circus does not give me much optimism that he actually intends to make CNN anything more than the leftist propaganda it already is. I guess he could emulate the Colbert show by making CNN even less entertaining.

Imagine being gullible enough to fall for it

I’d be curious to see your detailed analysis that shows specific ways in which these are wrong that isn’t just a conflicting headline about Biden being against domestic oil production. Show me the specific production that has been impacted.

What no one can seem to asnwer is why is gas this expensive?

For example May 1980 Crude was 138 gas peaked around 1.25.

June 2008 Crude was 181 gas was 4.10. With inflation that would be 5.40.

Crude today being 110 would mean that if price was consistent with 2008 gas should be 3.30 on average not 4.30

cause all the companies are blaming "inflation" to boost profits

at least that seems to be the case

The ones who would entertain watching Maddow or O'Donnell likely don't pay for cable and pay for streaming services.

Again, when you have a phone and know how to use it, there is zero reason to waste your time watching any news network for 2-3 hours a night.

The only time I've watched any cable news is during this ongoing conflict and during election season. I have had cnn on in the background during the war while working on my computer..

Cable itself is dying. More cord cutters every year. Live sports is the only thing keeping cable alive. Anything else you can watch with a streaming service.

The only reason I pay for cable still, is so my 75 year old father can watch fox news and the filipino networks. Otherwise I would have cancelled it years ago.
