Looking Ahead - The 2020 Offseason Thread

What i don’t understand is why most of Braves free agents don’t sign some where else.

I think they have some deal in place already.

It almost feels like Tampa has an offer on the table and he's just waiting on AA to match/exceed Tampa's offer.

Well if you're going to take social media seriously, Ozuna still has "Atlanta Braves Outfielder" in his Instagram bio, and he posts pretty often.

Our of curiosity, how many would put Pache in a trade for Ramirez or Chapman?

I think I might.

Nope. I can be alone in this but no. We have 200 pitchers who we will probably all deem AAAA pitchers in this organization at some point if not now. I'd rather use waters, Riley...or one of the catchers not rhyming with 'prepare us.'.

I also go with no on Pache. I understand the questions about his bat. However, from the small sample size we have seen at the ML level, I have a feeling he will turn out to be stellar at getting on base. Not a whole bunch of power, but some, along with what appears to be a superior approach that will lead to a high OBP.

That, along with otherworldly defense.makes him very valuable.

I could go either way, but I'm probably leaning toward keeping him based on his potential. But I think either way it's moot. AA is so gun shy after trading away Thor I don't think we'll ever see him trade any of our studs. He may eventually trade away someone who has stuff but can't put everything together (Touki), but I don't see him trading a stud. I don't even see him trading Waters away, much less Pache.

I truly think he'd rather hoard a bunch of prospects, hit on one, maybe two, and end up with a handful of AAAA players vs trading away a possible stud to get a MLB known commodity on the chance he may get burned again by trading away another Thor.

Ozuna on Instagram tonight: "Atlanta? Atlanta is quiet. What can i do?”

Big yikes.

This is starting to feel exactly like JD from last year. We all ask why hasn't Ozuna signed? Why he supposedly only has one offer on the table from Tampa? Same reason as last year. Donaldson sat around waiting on AA to make an offer, he never did, and reluctantly had to accept the Twins offer. AA probably hasn't made an offer to Ozuna and he's waiting around. He has the Tampa offer but wants to see if AA will make an offer. Sigh.

I am tired of AA he signed Drew Smyley, Camargo, Dayton and Luke Jackson. With that money you keep Melancon and Greene. Probably he is working a deal and hopefully Pache or Anderson they are not include in any trade. 😡

I am sure he told Ozuna he could do another 1 year 18 mill already. If he doesn’t except it what can he do. Can’t have any bad contracts you know.

Lol you can't expect to hit on every 1 year offer you hand out, and you also can't expect to compete every year with a bunch of 1 year deals. At some point you have to pay to play. If you're not going to give out a deal for a legit 35+ hr player, and you're not willing to trade any prospects, then what the hell are you doing? He's very fortunate that he was able to sign Acuna and Albies to their deals.
