Matthew 24

Honestly, the world is probably more peaceful then it's ever been. I mean just 70 years ago we were bitter enemies with Japan and Germany. Nobody would ever know it these days. Not to long ago we were close to nuke war with Russia. While we're obviously not the best of friends my any means, it's hard to imagine nuke war with Russia now. China is becoming a capitalist society and war with them seems highly unlikely because of that. Capitalism is a great macro peace maker.

I think it's just we see all this crap going on in the world and being reported by the media and we think it is really hitting the fan now, when in reality it's not as bad as it was not too long ago.

Israel by the way is suddenly backed by a few muslim nations which I reference I think with one of Bedell's posts on this board but I digress.

You gotta be careful with this end world stuff. Just stick with the basic message of the new testament, imo and just stay away from the rapture and all that stuff. It just isn't something to be that concerned with. Nobody knows what's going to happen except for the Good Lord, if he exists... I myself am agnostic like Zito.

Don't let Dalyn get to you. He likes to stroke his ego sometimes, amongst other things.

Thanks for your post Weso. I honestly didn't bring it up to fear monger, recruit, scare anyone, etc. I just happen to like that verse and wanted to have a conversation pondering world events.

Gary and Dalyn, while I didn't appreciate your style of response, I regret over reacting. You guys are as entitled to your opinions as I am. I apologize for the responses I gave you. :)

Thanks. :icon_biggrin: Sorry about hijacking your thread. That wasn't my intent.

Hijack is a severe word, and doesn't quite fit. You brought up a point that has plagued Christians and non Christians for ages. Where is God? Why so much suffering. Sometimes we tire of the question because we wonder internally with everyone else at times.

My explanation is that we must not understand God's definition of time. It's easy in this culture of getting whatever we want when we want it spills over into our spirituality. It's a mistake, but am easy mistake.

In Adventism, we believe God will only come after the Gospel has reached all corners of the globe, accepted or not. Either thru politics, resources, knowledge (or lack there of) of people who have yet to be reached, human error, there must still be areas where the Christian view hasn't gotten it's say. I have friends in the east (Asia) who I have been informed must be very careful or risk enprisonment or worse if discovered while doing their evangelism. A woman was almost put to death in an Islamic? country recently for her Christianity. Just listing those as examples.

Christians or professed Christians are probably guilty themselves for God's delay in retuning. Myself included. We are all an imperfect (just look how imperfect I am ;) ) disfunctional family trying to do our best. Some do more harm than good, no matter what denomination they come in or out of.
