Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

Of relevance, didn't the Red Sox lose some international free agents last year because they were caught circumventing the international rules? If we lose Maitan....

The incompetence of this FO is staggering.

This could end up being a blessing if we can get rid of these dolts

I don’t know if those players ever played for the Red Sox org though...this looks org wise & could be worse...could also be MLB firing a warning strike to other teams about Otani

It would be pretty radical, if not exactly unprecedented, for MLB to take a player who is a member of an organization and has already played for them and unilaterally declare him a free agent. When we got popped for signing Betemit too early, we were banned from signing in the country - we didn’t lose Betemit.

Of course, until we know what this is about, it’s all rank speculation.

Any chance it has to do with the "hand shake" agreement that we had with Maitan before J2? Good lord if we lose Kevin I'm gonna lost my ****. The GM thing I can live with. I haven't been a fan of their rebuilding methodology anyway. But if we lose actual prospects over this its gonna be ugly

Just remember a few weeks ago the reports of the front office reshuffle was just rearranging the chairs on deck nothing more.

Rosenthal has been right about this from the start.

Pure speculation but I’m betting it has to do with Maitan, god forbid it’s Acuna

Jeff Passan's twitter feed isn't nearly as ominous as Rosenthal's. Passan says Coppolella has been under investigation for weeks on a number of matters, including the international market, the amateur draft, and treatment of Braves' front office employees. I'm not a conspiracy buff by any means, but given Rosenthal's supposed cozy relationship with the Wrens, I can't help but think that might be fueling the trajectory of his angle.

Acuna was signed on Wren's watch, so he is not likely part of this. The haul from 2016 may be another story.

What's funny is Hart and Suspenders groomed Coppy to be GM.

Anything he's done he learned from them. What's even funnier is they're now using Coppy as a scapegoat like they did Wren.
