Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

Absolutely, but that's who he reminds me of when he's on. No shame in being another Ryan Dempster though. Hopefully he has that long of a career.

Problem is Dempster wasn't good until he was 31 and with his 3rd team. The Braves wouldn't benefit much from Folty being the next Dempster.

I don't think they will lose anyone from the Maitan class. They will probably lose guys they signed in the most recent class when they surely did shady things to get those guys despite the $300k limit. They will probably also be banned from any international signings for 1-2 years.

Losing the #8 pick is likely the worst case scenario, so hopefully that doesn't happen.

That's a very good point. It is very possible many of these international infractions are from this past class due to our 300k limit restriction. I could see us bending tons of rules to sign guys who shouldn't been signable at that low price.

I'm sorry but Dave Cameron is going overboard. I've said that sadly, this season might have been like last year's Phillies false alarm for the Braves but unless a series of bad things happen, 2019 should be the year.

Should the braves have hoarded pitching prospects? Honestly likely no but still.

Dave Cameron is always hyperbolic, especially when it comes to downplaying the Braves organization.

John Schuerholz should be appreciated for the 1990s but it's time for someone to grow a pair and force him to retire totally. But I doubt it's going to happen, because Terry McGuirk has shown he doesn't give a flip.

This is similar to "lack of institutional control".

First step should be lawyering up with whoever UNC had then...

If Coppolella follows through on a lawsuit, discovery is going to suuuuuuuck.

I mean, it’ll be hilarious, if only to see how Jeff Wren tweets through several consecutive orgasms, but it’ll still be bad for the organization.

maybe the Braves were cheap with the severance offer.
I'm trying not to leap to conclusions, but the fact that he was offered a severance package is awfully stinky. If he were filthy and the buck stops with him, it seems like they could easily fire him for cause and call it a day.

Clean house, please.

That would also guarantee he’d never work in organized baseball again. But if the reports of his personality are true, that might have been the case anyway.

I think odds are against a lawsuit, but if it's filed I'd go all in that it never sees a courtroom.

Honestly, as much as I dislike Hart and even JS and want them out, I'm just looking forward to all of this being over with so we can concentrate on baseball. Where, in 2018, I think we can have a pretty good team if we play our cards right.

Agreed. We need quite a few breaks to go our way, but for the first time in years those breaks are actually plausible.
