Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

Hart really has friends in high places to not receive any penalty whatsoever. He walks away from the organization, free and clear, while we, the fans, take the brunt of the punishment.

Good for Coppy to be banned for life. Slimy son of a bitch

Manfred let ego get involved in this. It wasn't an issue of business or the best interests of the game. Manfred is a sulky child who is mad that someone did something he didn't want them to do. What a superfluous human being.

Basically, Manfred said we signed five players in the 2015-2016 period to X signing bonus in their contracts, but gave them more money under the table by inflating the bonus we gave to a player who was exempt from the bonus rules (Toscano?).

We did that so we would have money to sign Maitan and company in 2016-2017. We would not have been able to sign them without the rule breaking the previous year. That group was declared free agents because they were all signed as the result of our shenanigans.

To MLB’s credit, the logic seems.. reasonable?

It sounds like we were quite lucky to not lose anyone in the 2015-2016 class, which includes Pache.

Dion Toscano is the most notorious AA player in Braves history. His signing was the smoking gun that brought down a legendary executive in John Hart, a lifetime ban of a young, up and coming executive, and smeared the reputation of one the most successful MLB franchises for years to come.

It’s onlu fitting that Maitan goes on to hit 600 homeruns.

Toscana occurred to me too...that signing always seemed odd...i think Hart was in on the whole thing from the start
