how's about I want to make this place better ?

It is no secret I have advocated and voted for candidates that sought those policies spelled out in the post.
Because my candidates/policies didn't win the day, I should move ?

Tremendous health care coverage

9 months maternity, 6 months paternity

Tuition reimbursement

Paid based on value

Birth control covered in insurance

The ability to defend myseld

And my taxes are half as much

did you ever find a woman ?

why do you ask such obvious questions ?

I've answered your dumb question. I'm engaged to a doctor.

You never answer my questions. You just said you want to improve things. One thing you could have done was to fly to Puerto Rico to help. Instead you blame Trump by bitching on a message board

Its a great thing when you know you'll be protected by the world superpower if a conflict ever arises and don't have to spend that much on defense.

Also a low population is nice to have when you are a developed nation and a relatively homogeneous population typically leads to low crime rates.

They clearly have a great civil society support structure but the above two factors play more into those great stats.

Since Trump went on his rants about how Europe should do more to secure itself, those defense budgets are actually going up. There's even some cooperation between a few of those countries on naval shipbuilding programs, which may be the area of defense most gutted by the peace dividend (both in Europe and the US.)

Not surprisingly, the former Warsaw Pact countries ("New NATO") were already among the highest in defense spending. Poland is consistently the nation trying hardest to organize cooperative exercises and make defensive deployment plans. Those folks know what life is like behind the curtain and don't want to liflve it again. Sadly, "Old NATO" seems to view New NATO as little more than a crumple zone for a Soviet resurgence.

Yeah, they lost me on this one. You and I differ on the topic of whether or not health coverage affordability should be a right, but equal pay is absurd and any paid time off should be left to the companies in my opinion. I might be open to a program wherein the government subsidizes paid maternity leave, but disagree with requiring it. Free, quality birth control seems like a good idea, though. Feels a hell of a lot cheaper than dealing with the added expense of children.

I've had health coverage and tuition reimbursement since I was 21. Its not hard.

MLK would be ashamed of the things people are protesting about now. We now live in a country where real opportunity awaits those that choose to seize it and that is what MLK stood for. Just watch Morgan Freeman shut down Don Lemon. It seems that people believe that black people are monolithic. Thats racist in my book.

I seem to remember Colin Kaepernick protesting the treatment of black people at the hands of police. Call me crazy, but that feels like something Dr. King might have supported.

There are bad things that happen to black people that should not be happening at the hands of cops but we are a long ways from the time where MLK was protesting. Its a completely different world and there are many black people who are escaping poverty and realizing that society can work for them if they work hard.

Mission accomplished? I guess if people aren't getting a fire hose pulled on them for trying to enter a business that nobody ought to complain about racial injustice any more.

No but its about identifying progress which we have made. Sadly, justice doesn't happen overnight but the forcing of it often times hurts that progress. I would like to believe, easy for me a white man to say, that MLK would be thrilled at the opportunity afforded to black people in this country.
