Might as well not even play the NLDS

Pretty much, we just need Medlen and Minor to keep it close and give us a chance. But it's real simple. If we go up there with the approach we had against Kyle Lohse, swinging at pitcher's pitches early and not protecting, that's only going to make it more difficult.

Being realistic and hopeless are not the same thing. I still have a feeling that we'll pull it out.

My response is summed up quoting Lou Brown in Major League: "I figured we ought to hang around for a while and see if we can give 'em all a nice big sh-tburger to eat!"

Reasons to be optimistic.

- Dodgers are 18-14 when Kershaw starts. His starts are not automatic wins for the Dodgers
- September ERA Kershaw 2.53 - Medlen 1.00 ERA.
- Dodgers are not an offensive juggernaut, Crawford .736 OPS,Mark Ellis .674, AJ Ellis .685, Ethier .783, Uribe .769. Thats 5 of their hitters in their starting lineup. Then you have Adrian Gonzalez with a .803 OPS and Puig who has a second half OPS of .854. The Braves arent great offensively ether but our pitching is capable of shutting them down just as much as their pitching is capable of shutting us down.
- Medlen's last start vs Dodgers 6.2 innings 0 runs and that was with Puig at the start of his hot streak.
- Braves lit up the Dodgers pen this season.

Using W/L for Kershaw is beyond stupid.

He has a sub 2 ERA in 200+ innings, it will extremely hard to scratch a run or two off him and even Greinke for that matter.

I don't think it's stupid at all. It just shows you that when he starts, sometimes his offense doesn't put up runs and sometimes the bullpen blows it. In other words, not an automatic win. Nobody is trying to discredit that he's the best pitcher in the league, but you have to take all things into account.

Well hell Lets just pack it up and call it a season. Let our California guys go home and root for the Dodgers. Liberty doesnt need the money. We have no ML players on our roster. Uggla wont be there to pick us up. Anybody think of any more negatives, feel free to add them.

He pointed out Kershaw's ERA too but I am sure thats BEYOND STUPID too...

I'm very confident in our pitching this series. We just need to show a lot of patience offensively and try to sneak across an early run or two.

This is pretty much my take too.

Guess what the Braves record is when Medlen starts this year..... 17 and 14 obviously with 1 less start than Kershaw. The point of this is that this is a team game and as great as Kershaw is the rest of his team has a habit of not supporting him. Whether thats not scoring runs or the pen blowing the game. Kershaw can throw 7 shutout innings for us but if their pen allows 2 runs and the offense only scores 1 they still lose despite his dominance. Barring errors Medlen is capable of keeping the Dodgers to 2 runs or less.

In the immortal words of Dennis Green "If you wanna crown them then crown their ass." I'm not scared of the Dodgers. In Medlen I trust.

Some of you are beyond ridiculous. Pointing out that Kershaw has a 1.83....THAT'S 1.83....ERA...is not calling for the team to mail it in. It's just going to be tough to hit them, not impossible, but tough. And it'll get tougher if we don't have smart at bats.

You completely missed the point. Which is that despite his dominance, the Dodgers haven't won a ton of the games he's started.

Dodgers offense is really banged up and aside from their closer the back end of their pen is struggling. This is a toss up series.

Pitcher A: 90.2 IP, 67 hits, 4 HR, 93/17 K/BB ratio,
Pitcher B: 83.1 IP, 70 hits, 6 HR, 71/15 K/BB ratio,

A is Kershaw, B is Medlen post-all-star 2013.

Our lineup is better right now and we have the better 'pen.

And none of that changes the fact that Kershaw is still very damn good. Again, I think we take the series in 5.

And that has nothing to do with right now.

They could very well put up 3-4 runs vs Medlen in Game 1.

He has a 1.83 ERA, that is insane.

Their bullpen has been pretty good.

Wilson has been great, Belasario is solid, Jansen is just as good as Kimbrel, look at the numbers.

And two solid lefties with Howell and Paco.

Of their main options.

I love how 45 road wins, in their logic eliminates our 56 home wins.

Doesn't that also mean their home record isn't all that great?

Their analysis is weak. They made up their mind who is going to win, and then tried to conjure up reasons.

Does their "big three" starters have any wins at Turner Field? Haven't we hit Grienke pretty good?
