Minor League Thread Part Deux

I don't know. I feel like Guarav is a bit of a glorified cheerleader. If you take him a face value, the Braves have a top 5 farm system.
Obviously he's over optimistic... he's a fan too... but he's a great source for how prospects are performing in instructionals, etc... but he's right quite a bit more than the national guys. The Braves system has been obviously underrated over the past few years considering we keep pumping out ROY candidates.

Looking back on Stowers' minor league numbers, it's a bit surprising he was never a bigger prospect... I guess it was always his K-rate numbers... he's still striking out a lot at the MLB level but is also walking a lot.

The results from the last 5 years would say thats accurate
You can say that as it pertains to the Braves propensity to produce rookie of the year candidates, but I'd venture to say the system is no better or worse than some teams prospects that are drooled over. I wouldn't put them top 5 OVERALL though. But as much as I think AA miscalculated some things, the system is trending in a much better direction. Solid middle for me but improving incrementally. The strength is in pitching. Positional prospects are better if you look deeper into a few of the guys improvements, but I think a year or so away from approaching the upper echelon of prospects.

As for Gaurav...he's my guy. I'll hit him up sometimes and he's always gracious when we talk. I've compared my thoughts with his..we're not far off often. I'm generally an against the grain guy, but I love a good discussion. I feel better in general about the direction than I did this time last year.

Yea. I don’t get the “entitled” perception some want to paint as, but he clearly can’t handle the mental stress.

I hope he spends a couple years in Japan and then comes back after he figures it out.
Kelenic had a lot pressure on him in Seattle. So much so that when things went wrong, his emotions led to some ugly situations and immature handling of failure. Not uncommon for someone who's been the stuff of legends since little league. "Entitled" may be overstated but there was some of it when he arrived in the majors. From others and him. Doesn't mean people want him to fail. Don't think it happens in Atlanta. I don't know what the plan is for him but I like the Japan plan.

I don’t disagree. Just making the point that I think it’s more pressure related vs stubborn. I think the emotions are a symptom of a lack mental toughness. He always seemed like he played hard and cared deeply about becoming a great player.
