Minor League Thread Part Deux

Say what you want about the farm, but our pitching is ridiculous.
This. We have some pretty good guys down there that could be impact players. AA may do things different than getting the flashy guy but his drafts provide results. Seems like we produce 1-2 good major leaguers every year.

The farm is making strides and should be top-twenty this offseason. Big lift. And a clutch 2026 draft would elevate it further.
And a ROTY pick too... I hope we spend money this offseason instead of the trade and extend route. We need to let the minors keep growing.

I wouldn't even say flashy. I just think they have a mold they stick to. Athletic...toolsy...and lately...gamers. Pitching has not been the angst among Brave evaluators. It's been position players. Up until this year, that's still been the case. 21 of the top 30 players were pitchers. I'd say that's top pitching heavy.

The influx of position players has been the biggest development to me. The progress of the hitters has been a welcome sight considering this organization is known for pitching development. Ruben Gotay has been absolutely one of the better instructors I've seen since Bobby Moore's run in Rome. I wouldn't let him get away from the organization!

All in all...I've never cared for the outside ranking views, but I keep saying...give the Braves another good cycle of players and the farms overall view will be highly regarded. As is...it's upper mid. I wouldn't have said that a year ago.

They've really invested heavily on position players in the international market, but most of the premium signees haven't shown up. It's still early for a lot of them, but Benitez Tavarez, and to a great extent Glod are played out. Jury is out on Guanipa because he can't stay healthy. Curioius if Perdomo steps up after a so-so FCL season. Gil has been the exception and is playing well above his bonus level. I wonder if they rush Tornes to Augusta next April or if he starts in the FCL. SS Cordero and IF Campos looked fairly good in the DSL.

Same on the domestic front to some extent with overslot signees like Collins and Paolini just not making a mark. But they hit with Harris and Baldwin and Alvarez should at least translate to a solid bench guy provided he isn't a one-position (3B) guy. 2025 draft looks promising out of the gate. There's getting to be a logjam of middle infielders (Southisene, Miller, Williams added to Gil, Perdomo, and Mateo) and it will be interesting to see how that is sorted out. I think the lack of position player depth in the system showed up fairly clearly when they put Hartman, Carey, and Montgomery in Augusta to start the season. Carey has really worn down and Montgomery never really got started. I wouldn't be surprised if all three repeated the level at least at the start of the 2026 season.

I think the promsing angle is that there is a wave of position players coming up. They have had a lot of hangers-on manning rosters that will likely be displaced as the younger group rises.

PS--Forgot Lodise in the Middle IF mix.

Once again, the Braves’ farm system is ranked in the bottom-10, yet they keep churning out talent. I get that our depth—especially positional depth—still isn’t where it should be, but the folks doing these rankings are dense as hell. I truly believe Caminiti, Ritchie, and O. Murphy all project as solid-to-very-good big-league pitchers. Lara, at minimum, looks like a legit bullpen weapon, and Fuentes’ upside is absurd. And if Waldrep is supposedly the “low man” on that list, he’s putting up flat-out historic rookie numbers this month.

I'm not worried about prospect rankings bc it seems like the Braves churn out 1-2 really good MLB players a year and that's probably best in the league. Ritchie and Caminiti are gonna be really good with MOR or higher upside. If Waldrep has figured something out and it looks like he has bc his last start with no strikeouts was probably the most impressive bc he just got the job done without them. We have plenty of talent coming we just don't need to trade it away. Spend the money.

It is weird that even sites like FG consistently miss on the Braves prospects. As others have said, consistently considered a bottom 10 farm yet every single season that entire time a really, REALLY good rookie emerges. You don’t have a bottom 10 farm if *every single year* a stud is imported into the majors. The analysis is off.

I cant explain it exactly yet but I have been down on Ritchie. Glad to see him pop off at AAA. I wasnt even considering him for 2026 at midseason. Caminiti though I am ready for that bandwagon. I think he rockets through the minor league levels next year.

Consider the scouting reports on the players accuracy rather than rankings. We really just lack the depth other teams have. Outside our top 16 is just embarrassing. Players high in the minors are given more value and the Braves typically dont leave the best ones in the high minors too long.
