Minor League Thread Part Deux

I really do wonder if they are messing with the balls though bc the power numbers went way down with us all of a sudden last year it seems.

MLB has admitted that the balls have more drag on them this year. They say it’s due to a manufacturer error and there’s nothing they can do about it, yet the Aaron Judges of the world seem unaffected.

Why isn't someone collecting balls from every stadium over a month or so and compare them?

They make the most money off the Dodgers and Yankees so it would make sense to send better balls to those 2 teams.
yeah, they’re still allowed to cheat and sign 13-year-olds. Funny how the investigation disappeared with nothing found when they’ve been doing the same thing as the braves. They've done it for years. That whole system is a shit hole.

Hayden Harris and JR Ritchie are the Braves players sent to the all star minor league game at Truist- Deest- what are your thoughts? After Diddy, are these the best two ?

Hmm. Not really Hula. JR is a known commodity so I won't touch on him (he's top 3 IMHO). Hayden is an underrated prospect for sure. What I like about him most is his slider and the way he hides the fastball. FB is the usual 92-94 variety but the swing and miss is real with it. To me, he's been brought along the right way but painfully slow.

Given the volatile nature of RP'S, I'd say he's top 5 in the Braves system regarding relief pitchers with a chance to be solid at the major league level. Command (Braves theme) will be the key but his time is coming. If I were putting just pitching prospects only in a top 10, he'd probably be around 10 or so.

Waldrep may be even worse than I feared. I really wish AA would have cashed out on him back when I said he needed to be used as trade bait.
I don't do it for all his starts, but I usually check his S/B numbers and they usually aren't that great. I think Deester has pointed out that he can't use his supposedly superb "out" pitch if he's consistently behind in the count.

You’re definitely spot on 50. It’s just a shame that any command that he might have will only last for a sequence or two. I also think it’s made his out pitch back up because it never was a strike pitch to begin with. It was always an out of the zone pitch that looked like a strike until it wasn’t. It only works if he's ahead in the count.

I think he is a case of what could’ve been, but probably won’t be unless by some miracle, his command or the plane of his fastball changes.
