Minor league thread

I'm in the 'don't really think Waters will pan out' camp, but think this is an interesting conversation.

This is from 2019, but "Analytically his 2019 metrics back up an above average grade with his max exit velocity topping 112 mph and an average EV of 89.5 mph."

Not sure how that would be expected to change with age, but you'd have to assume he's stronger at 23 than he was at 20.

Also enjoyed this interview earlier this week fwiw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Xt-sq4ySY

For reference, 112+ puts him in the company of Olson, Acuna, Riley, Contreras and Ozuna.

Waters just strikes me as the 734th tooled up OF prospect that never figured out how to hit.

I think you are all probably correct in your skepticism on Waters, but the point some were trying to make is that the high BABIP has been showing up consistently year after year. It doesn't override the less positive numbers, but makes you wonder what skill-set explains it.

It is likely the thing that has kept him moving up the ladder despite the high K numbers. Scouts always think they can harness that skill and build on it ;-)

Michael Harris was originally in Mississippi’s lineup today, but an updated lineup shows him not in it. Don’t have a reason why as of now.

Could just be promotion to Gwinnett. Waters hand may be hurt and out a while. I hope Harris is up tomorrow though

This would be the time to promote him so he gets ~100 PAs in AAA by late June. Then he could be promoted to MLB and have ~100 PAs before AA has to decide how many OFers he needs to acquire at the deadline.
