Ignacio Alvarez just hit his fourth homer of the year, second in the last week or two. He’s been on fire lately and has the OPS back up over .800. K/BB ratio is about even. I don’t think there’s any question he’s clearly our best position player prospect.

Owen Murphy off to a good start in Augusta. Three shutout innings with no hits, one walk and four Ks.

Looks like Schwellenbach threw well in his Futures Game inning: https://twitter.com/rotoclegg/status/1677839950568366082?s=46&t=t7xpFDjlFYkGV6nUElb0dA.

I would imagine he’s moved up to Rome next week.

Agree on Schwellenbach. A little surprised they've kept him in Augusta as long as they have, but they're likely just being careful and letting him ease back into things.

Any word on Maier or Phillips? I half expected to see them in game action at some point this season, but recoveries are what they are.

Every time I check an FCL box score, I’m hoping to see Maier or Phillips listed as the starting pitcher. Phillips has TJ in March 2022, so you’d certainly think he was close to a debut. Maier I don’t have a clue about. Seemed like reports were he went with one of the TJ alternative surgeries, but at this point with him still being out, he should’ve just had the real surgery.

Malloy was in the futures game, that trade sucked.

I wonder if Anthopoulos makes the deal if he had known Anderson and Tonkin were going to be as effective as they've been and Yates would make a full comeback. There were questions about the bullpen going into 2023.

Curious what they do this off-season. Team options on McHugh and Yates at $6.0 MM and $5.72 MM respectively. Jimenez is a free agent.

As for Malloy, it looks like the Tigers are having the same challenge that the Braves had in finding his best defensive position. His power numbers are up after a slow start in that aspect of his game this season. Tigers aren't brimming with offensive talent, so my guess is we'll see him and know more about him at some point this year.

Jiminez now at 0.2 fWAR after a tough start.
10.67 k9
2.83 bb9
3.78 FIP

I actually think he and yates are gonna have really strong 2nd halves

This.

JJ has merely whelmed this year, But he’s been perfectly acceptable contributor to a good bullpen, and Malloy is still essentially the same mid level prospect we traded 6 months ago (interesting bat with no defensive position).
