Who was the hitter that was available via trade or in the draft that the Braves should have drafted. Where was the Bryant/Schwarber/Correa/Springer/Bregman? The Braves have been incredibly aggressive in the Latin American market. Isn't that not enough? They could potentially have 3 hitters in the top 50 next years top prospects. They traded from their pitching surplus to get a very high ceiling bat. Is that not enough? How many do you want? This is a more balanced approach then you would think.
I just answered your question...
The Braves traded Heyward for a pitcher.
The Braves traded Upton for a pitcher
The Braves traded Gattis for a pitcher
The Braves traded Simmons for a pitcher
The Braves traded Kimbrel for a pitcher
The Braves traded $10M in cap space for a pitcher
The Braves used the 14th pick in 2015 for a pitcher
The Braves used the 28th (their second) pick in 2015 for a pitcher
The Braves used the 3rd pick in 2016 for a pitcher
The Braves used the 40th (their 2nd) pick in 2016 for a pitcher
The Braves used the 44th (their 3rd) pick in 2016 for a pitcher
That is why the Braves have so much pitching.
