Minter To AAA

I guess. What stats support Arcia being better than camargo?

Last 3 seasons combined:

OBP: Arcia .290. Camargo .260

OPS: Arcia .653. Camargo .622

Defensively, Arcia is much better as well. Camargo isn't a major league caliber player anymore.

I'm more than a little confused by the camargo hate. Now I realize he's isn't great, but he's actually had mlb success.

Vs lhp...
116 wRC+
.349 wOBA
.833 ops

Have you checked on those numbers the last 3 years? It's quite a different story.

Also, there a significantly less value and roster flexibility for a LHP mashing only player (which he isn't even that anymore), being that the vast majority of pitchers in the league throw with their RH.

I want him in panda's spot. Almonte as lh ph and camargo as rh ph. Both can actually play in field if needed.

Arcia is up bc of AAA stats this year. Well, camargo's AAA numbers are better

Pablo last 30 games...
.129/.250/.129
Yep, his pathetic avg matches his slugging.

If we ph him anywhere but for a pitcher, we have to burn another bench player.

Arcia isn't up purely because of his AAA stats. That's silly to assume that. He's been a decent everyday player as recently as last season and plays multiple positions well defensively.

BS. Almonte and Arcia got a shot bc they were hitting in AAA.

ETA... and I'm fine with that. This isn't camargo vs Arcia either. It's camargo vs panda. Neither are a good option, but one can actually play a position if needed. One can only dress up and hug people

I disagree. Arcia was actually hitting better a month ago than he was when we brought him up. We didn't bother bringing him up then despite an obvious need. It's more likely we were trying to squeeze another year of control by keeping him down as long as we did.

Additionally, I don't know that anyone said Arcia is THE ANSWER. He has however been more steady than given credit for by the replace him crowd. Camargo is not a better option than Arcia to me. Panda? He's been worse than a hood ornament since the first month of the season.

As far as demeritte vs Arcia for lf, we are in trouble either way. I don't feel strongly about demeritte over Arcia really, but hell, why not? Both are awful, awful options for lf

Sorry, but you're just rearranging deck chairs. Sending Panda packing isn't a bad idea by any stretch, but Camargo has no business being on a MLB roster - a "switch-hitter" who can only hit from one side and doesn't offer particularly good defense at ANY position doesn't help anything. Don't let having a good arm confuse you - Camargo is a utility guy who can really only play 1B or 3B - that makes him Panda with a better arm.

Don't misunderstand - I get trying whatever you can with whatever you've got, but if AA doesn't make a couple trades to significantly upgrade the lineup and pen this team is going nowhere. We're talking Gallo/Kennedy (possibly Gibson), Frazier/Rodriguez, Marte/Garcia, Bryant/Tepera or Chafin level trades and he's shown absolutely no interest in that type of deal so far. I have no doubt he's asked about deals like that, but if he's approaching them with a list of prospects he's just not trading for rentals/short-term "fixes" those kind of deals just aren't in the Braves' future.

Of course, I'm looking for band aids. I don't think camargo is gonna get us to the top. He can actually ph for someone and us not have to burn another bench player immediately though

Just for frustration relief. Did anyone else see Minter wave off 2 signals before immediately giving up the double to Kiermaier. Did anyone else notice Minter holding his leg up for multiple seconds in the stretch. Kiermaier obviously did for he stole 3rd with no outs. Score tied, why would KK risk committing the deadliest sin in baseball?

Carmargo's only offering over Panda is defensive. Offensively, it's probably a push.

At this juncture, Billy McKinney would be a decent addition to replace Panda as the backup 1b/pinch hit specialist.

One of the more underrated moves that backfired this off-season was letting Culberson go and keeping Camargo. Charlie has only put up 1.2 WAR with Texas so far. Clearly we didn't have space for a local kid that could play anywhere on the field with pretty solid defense at every spot.....
