MLB Draft Thread

Didn't see one so thought I'd start one. We have the 22 pick so we should add a pretty good player. We usually go SP but there are a lot of good SS in this draft.

Our first round picks always seem to crap out. It's the picks after the first round we hit on. Hope Caminiti is different.

We need a right handed who can throw high 90’s with a flat fastball and whom hasn’t had TJ surgery yet.

Haven't used a first-round pick on a position player since Shea Langeliers in 2019.

Also, I had completely forgotten that we once used a first-round pick on someone named "Ryan Cusick." Didn't wait too long before trading him.

Right hander that average 94.7 last year ?
Eh. I'm with you, but I'm the low man on Hack. However, I reserve the right to change that IF he adjusts to pitching backwards. He gets hit hard for someone who has a pretty good arm. He's about the 4th best pitcher in the system for me....but I digress.

SS is a position that they should be targeting, but make no mistake, I think it'll be a pitcher. He won't be of the soft tossing variety if I were guessing.

They seem to have a strategy of going pitching in the draft and hitting on the international signings.

Are there any potential impact college SS that could arrive by 2026?
Among the shortstops, Daniel Pierce Lex Lodise and Dean Curley. Lodise seems like he could move quickly, but I don't like his overall game. He fills all the stat columns so he won't dazzle, but he's highly thought of for a reason. Pierce I like, but not sure he'll be there.

I've seen Pierce going around 15 or so but people fall sometimes like Caminiti did. Maybe he's there but I have no confidence they'll take anything but a pitcher. If Aloy or Pierce are there that should be the play. Pierce is also a Georgia boy.

Here's the latest write up on Aloy. I like him the more I see him.

Aloy went from unheralded Hawaiian recruit to Western Athletic Conference freshman of the year at Sacramento State in 2022, then transferred to Arkansas. His OPS dropped from 1.089 to .841 while facing tougher competition, but he did lead the Razorbacks with 14 homers and then finished third in the Cape Cod League with eight in just 21 games. He has improved offensively and defensively this spring, winning Southeastern Conference Player of the Year honors and likely playing his way into the first round.

Just checking some mock drafts:
