MLB Trade Deadline Discussion

Every time I check the Nielsen rankings of market size, Atlanta is the 9th largest market in the country. Larger than St. Louis or Detroit. How do they have money and we don't?
I know that we have a bad tv deal but it can't be that bad is it?

We gave all our money to Santana.

Blame Medlen and Beachy.

Also blame Wren for handing out bad contracts.

Liberty will approve the money if the Braves can bring in a game-changing piece.

Not true. Wren said we need to be "thrifty." The only way we can bring in a substancial piece is if Wren is creative and gets another team involved and can move salary (ie Santana, BJ, etc) and my internal sources with the Braves have indicated that Wren has worked countless hours trying to be creative but is not finding any dance partners.

And how many times have we heard that company line before? What consistutes a game changing piece?

But then again we should be able to get a David Price on $.25 on a dollar, right?

When have you ever believed a word that Wren says?

I don't believe anything that FO's say in public, it is usually postering. But I do have good sources internally that do have a good scoop on what is going on and they tell me we don't have the means to make an impact move or take on salary of any sort. And Wren has tryed and would love to get Price here, but in order to do so he needs to be creative and move salary in order to do so, and so far he has come up empty finding a third party. It's one of the reasons why we held on to Uggla for so long even though he was riding the bench, as he was hoping that someone would be willing to take on his contract in a blockbuster but eventually the ties needed to be cut.

Rosenthal: Andrew Miller not going to #Tigers, per @jonmorosi. Not going to #Braves either, per source.

The Indians have traded shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, reports Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer (Twitter link). The switch-hitter’s new team has not yet been reported.

Buster Olney: 'Buck Showalter now has about 1,000 left-handers, with the addition of Andrew Miller.'
