MONDAY Minors Thread 5/14 ... What happens next? Gohara exits early!

Pretty sure I just spotted Gohara in the dugout without anything on his arm, and he was just sitting around talking to teammates. Hopefully nothing serious.

Kade scivique....is he legit? I'm not thinking star by any means and I know he's 24. I'm thinking cheap but good backup catcher. He has a decent ops in the monster park of aa. Considered a good catcher, right?

He's as good or better than Suzuki right?

Yes. The reasons vary from player to player and often are a mystery or unknowable. And yet. Even though none of us can prove it, a lot of us have an intuition that in some cases overly aggressive promotion can "harm" a prospect.

Intuition? It's generally just a feeling that anything disappointing about a prospect is a result of his being rushed even if that player went on to a 10 year career.

I think he's thought of as a decent backup catcher prospect, yeah.

I get the feeling health might force Gohara to the pen. But that might not be a bad thing. His stuff might play better out of the pen and dominant relievers are pretty valuable.

I am hard pressed to call an 18 year old 'not that good' if they fail at their first attempt at A ball.

Hey, I said may.

I know he's young, I'm not giving up on him. Just saying that even for a teenager, OPS'ing under .500 at two straight stops is not a good sign.

I think we have gotten spoiled by what Albies and Acuna did at very young ages. Not every good prospect is an uber prodigy like those two. Cruz is young enough that he could re-establish himself as a good but not elite prospect.

Speaking of young. Pache is making a strong impression. Not quite in the class of Albies and Acuna, but impressive nonetheless.

Hearing that it may have been blisters for Gohard last night. I have nothing Firm yet though.

Think he is hitting .350+ his last 10 games. definitely bouncing back from a slow start. I agree with Cruz. I think he can be good, not elite. His defense was putrid though. That is something to be concerned about. But again.. just so young still.

That would be a best case scenario. Still think there's a good chance he ends up in the pen. Again, that's not a bad thing.

No I agree.. if you have a good chance of your floor being a good RP, then I am happy. he has the stuff to be that guy. We can dream on him sticking as a starter and feel good about him being at least a setup guy/closer.

A move to center might be in his future.
