He was Scar, how can he not be?

This just kind of made my life. I had no idea.

Ironically, I first learned who Jeremy Irons was as a child when I rode Spaceship Earth at Epcot. He narrated it. An epic voice.

Also, Simon Gruber.

I refuse to watch that movie. Does the movie at least hint at the fact that the main character was a piece of ****, who stole tens of millions from people and ruined their lives?

More than a little bit. I mean I'm sure some people won't read it that way because they think his character is "cool" but it's intentionally portrayed that way.To expand on that point, if you think that Scarface is someone to emulate, you may not think Belfort is a POS. But if you're a normal functioning brain you'll make that assessment in a hurry.

Out of the best picture nominees I've seen so far, I'd rank them

12 Years a Slave
Gravity
Her
Dallas Buyers Club
Wolf of Wall Street
Captain Phillips
American Hustle

The first six are all very very good. I liked American Hustle, didn't love it. Great acting and soundtrack, didn't like the overall story as much as Wolf of Wall Street.

That's literally the plot of the film ...

Saw Nebraska over the weekend. Very good movie. It's your typical Alexander Payne "small" character-driven movie with Bruce Dern and Jane Squibb showing themselves to be worthy nominees in their respective Oscar categories. Will Forte was very good as well.

I really enjoyed it. It won't win Best Picture (and shouldn't), but I wouldn't be surprised if Bob Nelson wins Best Original Screenplay. I doubt Payne wins Best Director, but he did a marvelous job with this movie.

Just got "Rush" in the mail yesterday from Amazon. This is definitely perfect to show off the capability of the Blu Ray format for the hi def video and hi rez surround audio.

I'd one up you and say Tron Legacy is the best blu-ray to show off hi def video and hi def audio. Also, Dredd probably has the best audio track on any blu ray I've watched.

If you want to see what a beautiful restoration looks like, purchase Paths of Glory from Criterion.

Not the audio, but Life is the greatest use of bluray (and weed)

nope it's life. The colors and not to mention the weird animal facts.

Discussion about symbiotic relationships on weed are epic.

Saw this one tonight and really enjoyed it. Very good acting, and I think shooting it in black-and-white was the right choice.

In terms of best overall, "Avatar" could be the standard. Still, "Rush" is pretty damn good.

Saw Part One of Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac. I'm not sure if it's out in the states yet.

Elegant, not absurdly explicit (although it was slightly odd to see full-on fellatio in the theater), and strangely thought-provoking. Can't wait to see Part Two.

Stacy Martin is pretty sexy in a lolita kind of way.

Are the sex scenes using stand ins? I know Shia has a stand in but wondering if the actual hard core scenes are the real people?

Apparently all the pornographic scenes scenes were filmed with body-doubles and the actual actors faces were digitally added later. To be honest, I couldn't even tell.

Interesting. I just watched All About Anna, a Danish film I think where the actors who did the sex scene actually had sex. They pre-coordinated the scene to make the actual acts seem more realistic (penetration, fellatio, cunnilingus) and it was all real and not body doubles or digitally added.

Just checked out the trailer for it. Kind of looks like mid-grade porn. Worth the watch for 'artistic value'?

"Don Jon" made me feel like it was almost an endless loop. Dude has porn addiction. Dude goes to gym. Dude hangs out with buddies. Dude hooks up with chicks from nightclub. Dude drives to church and goes to confession. Dude swills pasta at dinner with his loud & profane Italian family with football on TV during Sunday dinner. In between, dude sees girl. Dude tracks down girl. Dude gets girl. Dude loses girl. Dude makes feeble & failed attempt to get girl back.

Only slightly deeper of a plot than the clips he watches.
