NBA Thread

I wouldn't say that is a ringing endorsement of his defense there. Again, in college a center should absolutely own the paint. He is going up against vastly inferior players who are not even as athletic as he is. The whole game changes once you make the NBA though and you have guys like Westbrook attacking you.

You clearly don't watch a lot of college basketball. Towns and Turner are the only guys that rank in the top 40 that are going to be good pro's and they are both outside the top 20 in those stats.

Regarding the argument with Towns you have to consider his projectabilty to be able to shoot. If you guys haven't noticed the direction of the NBA is space and pace. More spacing you can generate with the guys on the floor the better. Now spacing can be achieved in more ways than just shooting but that is ultimately the best way to do it. That is why a guy like Korver is +19.1 net.

I don't mind Olynk because he can shoot from the outside. You can theoretically play him with another center but you will probably get run out of the gym.

Let me know when a team full of Korvers wins a ring....until then, superstars will always end up with the ring.

You are using a bunch of straw mans today.

Who is saying you can win without stars?

Who was hte last center that was a focal point of a team that won anything who wasn't considered a top defensive big?

Also, if that's your point......when was the last time a center was a focal point of a championship team? Duncan 10 years ago? TP and KL passed him for the last one.

I think the Lakers bigs were just as important as Kobe in their recent two rings.

Also, Duncan is ALWAYS the focal point for the Spurs. I don't see how anyone can watch and not understand that.

Are you going to end up building a team centered around one of the top 2 players of all time anytime soon?

Well........Bron didn't win anything on his own, so, yeah....having 2-3 other pieces to your superstar is kind of important.

thethe, you tend to get caught up in the newest craze and ignore everything else. I'm certainly not saying rim protection is worthless. But, it seems you are saying you shouldn't draft Okafor because he is not a rim protector so he will never win anything. There are many good teams in the NBA that don't have a top rim protector.

Shaq, sure.......but Kobe > Pau and Bynum......that's not debatable.

Tim in his prime, absolutely but not as he aged. Which is why it took them 6-7 years to win another....they re-tooled and landed KL.
