New Manager Discussion

As long as Chipper is brought in as the hitting coach and I'd like to see Rick brought back as the pitching coach. Maybe EY would come back to coach a base since Wash is gone in LA.

Guy at MLBTR is predicting Gibbons due to his Jays/AA connection. He's managed the Jays twice, never won much of anything, took several years off after being fired, and has spent 2 seasons as the Mets bench coach where he's learned...let me check my notes...how to underperform with a huge payroll.

I really hope it's not him.
He did some work for the Braves for a season (or maybe two) before taking the job with the Mets. He's basically an old-school rockhead.

This board is going to be really disappointed in a few weeks. Mainly because there’s apparently only like 2 guys in all of baseball you deem ‘acceptable’. Lol

Not much but two pieces from an Athletic story on what they're hearing about managerial openings:

-"Every team with an opening — except the Atlanta Braves — inquired about Schumaker’s interest, league sources told The Athletic."

-"
The Giants, like the Braves and Orioles, offer an open position with a team that is expected to be in win-now mode. Should the O’s choose to focus on managerial experience after the rookie Hyde, David Ross, who told The Athletic last week he wanted to manage again, is an intriguing possibility. Ross could also be a fit for Atlanta, though the Braves have not yet begun asking permission for interviews as of Monday. Atlanta gave Brian Snitker’s coaches permission to interview for other jobs, though bench coach Walt Weiss is expected to get consideration as Snitker’s successor. The Orioles are a little further ahead in the process than the Braves, though they — like several other clubs — may choose to wait until the postseason ends to interview candidates from teams still playing."

What in the world is AA doing then? Snitker retired on Wednesday and told the team last Tuesday. Did AA go to Cancun as soon as that presser was over? Or does it really mean it will probably be someone he already knows like Weiss or Gibbons?

AA never tells anybody what he's doing or talking to so I would expect the same here. Anybody that thinks AA hasn't t had conversations with people already have their head in the sand.

lombard, for one. who knows who else?

the doomposting is getting exhausting. the one thing everyone wanted to kick off the offseason has happened, and people are still twisting themselves into knots finding new reasons to be upset for some reason.
