Next Move?

Still wouldn't go after him even with a weeks negotiating window...i dont think he ages well

Also, he hit .278 at home last year with 19 homers, only hit .233 away from CIN last year with 16 HRs.....we don't need that type of hitter in our life

I'm not saying I like the trade proposal, but if you read the link, it's Frazier + 72 hour window for extending him well beyond 2017 (i.e., the trade would be contingent upon a successful extension being negotiated).

Just wait and sign Frazier as a free agent and keep Julio. We're not competing next season anyway.

Saw this listed on here about the Giants and Dodgers checking in on Shelby Miller....the Dodgers could make sense as trade partners....what do the Giants have that could make them good partners....they don't even have a prospect in the top 100 right now do they?

I'd want Seagar from the Dodgers. Or Pederson. Miller is too big of a trade chip coming off his best year with multiple years of control. Got to have a James Shields type of return for him.

Seager is going nowhere. Zero chance we get him in a Miller trade

I feel as though it's a matter of time until Austin Barnes is a Brave.

Sucks because I really wanted him in the Olivera trade and he should have been in it. But yes, a offer of De Leon, Verdugo, Barnes would be very tempting for Shelby

Trevor Ploufe is another guy that seems to make a lot of sense. He's got two more years of arbitration and would be a perfect stopgap to Riley.

If we got Javier Baez, Trevor Plouffe, and Austin Barnes without depleting our pitching I think we could have a decent lineup.

Frazier still has 2 years of control. In 2017 he will likely get $12M in arb, and then hit the FA market before the 2018 season as a 32 year old. If he continues to play at a 3-4 WAR level he will command at least $20M per year, but due to his age will likely be limited to a 4 year deal. In order to extend Frazier I would guess it would take a minimum of 5/92 ($12M for 2017 and $20M+ for 4 FA years).

To me, he seems like a guy that will fall off the cliff just like Uggla, and I don't think it would be wise to extend him. Considering he would only be a Brave for 2 years, I would not give up Teheran or Miller for him. If he could be acquired for a package centered around the non-elite pitching prospects (Allard, Newcomb, Touki, and Fried) I would be all for it.

We could offer our entire team to the Dodgers and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't give up Seagar. It's nice to dream about though.

Not sure how I feel about Pederson. His power is ridiculous and he flashed some wheels in the minors but he struck out in almost 30% of his trips to the plate last year. His high walk rate helped but he looks to be one of those infuriating hitters that either hits it out of the park, walks, or strikes out.

You would think so, but you would have also never thought the Royals would have given up Myers for Shields. For me it would be be Seagar, or no deal. If we needed to add Jace or Grilli or someone of similar value, then that's fine. But we need a legitimate top hitting prospect with power projection in return for Miller.

It would be great if it happened. An addition like that changes this whole process and flips it upside down for me.

The Dodgers are not the Royals. You're not getting Seager, period. If that means you wouldn't do the deal, fine, but Miller is not an ace. And even if he was, the Dodgers still might not do it.

If you don't accept less, then you just wouldn't trade Miller. I would take 2 good prospects for him in a heartbeat, but we're not getting an elite one for him.

Glad to know you work in the Dodgers front office.

it is about what he thinks they would do.. no different than you saying.. we should give X player for X player.

Seager is like the #1 or #2 prospect in MLB.. Miller won't get you that return. So I tend to agree with Smoothy..

I would argue Shields wasn't an "ace" either. And I could bring up multiple other instances of similar trades (like Grienke). Your opinion if Miller is irrelevant. He's young, cheap, controllable, and coming off the best season of his career.

Stating your opinion is fine. But he made a statement passing it off as fact.

What is everyone's fascination with Frazier? I like him, but no.

I also don't know what the fascination with Baez is... he screams bust to me with his strikeout rate. There have been countless prospects like him around... mouth watering power with too many holes.
