NL Rookie of the Year Watch

There has already been reports that SP is the primary focus this off-season in FA. You simply can't rely on our guys staying healthy or that Strider/Lopez will find themselves again.
I understand that, but we are about to have a new wave of guys ready as well from the minors. I think Strider is usable as he is right now, if he regains the FB rise, hes gonna be better.

Agree you can't count on, but that goes for everyone everywhere. Our luck, or preventative medical folks or both need work.

So say the Braves land the #5 pick or better and the PPI pick for ROY... do you guys want AA to sign a QA player in the off season to lose that PPI pick and the extra 3+ million... or does that change how you want AA spends over the next off season to try and protect that money.

Or that Sale in his last year and another year older will stay healthy and SS fractured his elbow. They will no doubt go out and get a legit SP. AA took a lot of crap this year for his lack of moves in the offseason so he won't let that happen again.

That'll play into it i'm sure. But you can't go into the offseason as is and say hey we have Waldrep who has a really terrible track record but had a good 6 game stretch when he came back up and Richie pitching good in the minors so we can skip the rotation. That's how you get fired if you're in charge. They have plenty of money to spend so we'll see what happens but Michael King if he doesn't get a QO attached might be the guy to go after.

I would be pretty surprised if they sign a QO player in that situation just based on history. The only QO guy AA has signed here was Will Smith unless I'm forgetting someone. Now that it would cost a pick in the late 20s (assuming Baldwin does win ROY)? I would be surprised.

I'm curious as to what some people are going to be complaining about a year from now after we drop 100 million in the offseason, have a top 5 and 2 more in the top 50 picks, a top 10 farm system, and cruising to 100 wins.
I can think of a few:

Snit guiding a 100 win team to 95 wins and an early October exit due to tactical incompetence
A Snit disciple doing the exact same thing
The below slot draft pick at the top of Round 1

And most of all....

Acuna being an idiot by wasting ABS challenges contesting balls/strikes like a whiny baby.

The only player with a QO attached even worth considering will be Tucker. While we all love to speculate about him being a possibility, he almost certainly isn't.

So assuming Tucker isn't an option, I would not be in favor of signing anyone with a QO attached.

sort of agree with CJ.. AA has shown that he doesn't like dealing with QO's.. But I would also not let something like that get in the way of a player that I really wanted.

But it does seem that you can navigate that by looking at players of similar value that don't have a QO attached. is there a list of FA that have already had a QO or has been traded..

Tucker and Cease are the only 2 I'd sign with a QO. I don't see us spending that amount of money but I do think AA surprises us this offseason with how much he spends.

I’m withholding my excitement for the offseason until I know exactly what’s happening with Snitker. He needs to spend more time with his grandchildren
If he or the team don't announce his retirement within a week of the season ending then he's sticking around for his 50th and we are gonna go through another year of bs.

I'm not that concerned about draft picks.
