Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

Can you post a link? I see them mention packaging JUp or Zimm with Fulmer, but I see nothing about them taking Kemp. That seems exactly the opposite of using Fulmer to unload JUp or Zimm.

Sorry I wasn't clear

U got it. The tweet was about packaging a bad deal with fulmer. This is my deal.

I add kemp. I don't think we can afford the bad deal without moving kemp. Tigers don't want to eat money. So moving kemp as a backhand way to send money is my idea. Means we need to pay more. But I don't think you get fulmer without one of soroka albies. They might require albies too

The Tigers aren't going to package a bad contract with Fulmer and then take a bad contract back. That would defeat the whole point.

JUp plus Fulmer is interesting. I'll have to look into what his value might be.

Jup plus verlander plus fulmer and take kemp.

I'd ask about verlander plus fulmer.

Kemp saves them money in the long run and they could dh and flip

Fulmer will produce about 4 wins this year after almost 5 last year. He is controlled for 4 more years, all as an Arb player since he is a Super 2.

That's 16 wins at an estimated total salary of $30M (3m, 6m, 9m, 12m), maybe more if he wins a Cy or 2.

That puts Fulmer in the $120M-$130M surplus value range. Add another $20m for this year's contenders premium. Total of $150m. He is insanely valuable.

JUp is about to produce almost 5 wins this year. He is easily still a 3 win guy, and isn't overpaid by much at $22m per year, if he is overpaid at all. JUp doesn't have that much negative value, certainly not enough to bring the cost of Fulmer down significantly.

Zimm is a different story. He is likely valued around -$75m. Pairing him with Fulmer would approximately cut the expected prospect return in half.

Two deadlines in a row where Eduardo changes zip codes. Might be a pattern for him. Pretty good utility guy who has actually done well the past couple of seasons in a regular role. Watching Camargo, Nunez comes to mind (at least for me).

the new kelly johnson

White Sox traded Swarzak for Cordell. Would've liked to trade a RP for Cordell. But Swarzak has been better than anyone we have.

And wasn't the error his?

Well damn, then did his value go up or down after this one start?

You're the expert on economics as it applies to pitcher value...what say you, old wise one?

Please share your wisdom with those of us too dense to understand how 1 start can alter the value of a pitcher.

His pitching brought it up, but his defense brought it down.. I think it is clear that it is exactly where it started..

I would be in for the right deal with Fulmer, I just don't want Gray for anything more than cheap and that will not happen.

There won't be a "right" deal with Fulmer. I'm honestly more than fine sending good assets for him because he's durable, talented and under control for a while. He is probably the only pitcher I'm fine with spending too much on -- mainly because we are probably a year from being serious contenders.
