Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

If Albies was truly offered for Quintana, he'll never see Atlanta.

He will be gone for a SP by the end of the month which would be a colossal mistake.

I agree, actually. I want a frontline starter, but I don't trade him unless it's for someone like Archer. Still, I don't want to trade him.

Also Passan: Let me re-characterize this: Albies was definitely part of potential offer for Quintana, but source cautioned it never got to serious stage.

Why are we offering a top positional player for a starting pitcher when we are apparently "loaded" with SP prospects?

Exactly my thoughts. Trade Ozzie and we are down to Acuna as the only impact hitting prospect who can help us in the next year or two, and it creates a massive hole at second. I just don't get the logic here at all.

Surely they aren't fooled by Camargo's extremely unsustainable BABIP? Surely they wouldn't want to bring aging Phillips back on a 1 year deal?

I imagine we try really really hard for Gray or Archer. I think we get Gray, honestly.

I'm thinking we will too. But I don't want him. Gray is not a frontline guy. He honestly reminds me a lot of Julio.

The Rays are still just 3.5 games out; they aren't moving Archer if they stay in contention. There's not a frontline guy rumored to be on the block.

I would rather keep our prospects and trade Teheran and any other veterans that will bring back something of value in return. I'd want the return for Julio to include a long term answer at either third, behind the plate or in LF.

Lol.

I'm done if they trade Albies for a ****ty pitcher like Gray when they've spent the entire rebuild acquiring pitchers.

Just stupid.

We need to chill out. Worst time to try to trade for a frontline pitcher. If we even made the wild card...we are out quick. You do t give up assets unless you have a chance to win it all. We are not close to that. There's a time to trade and a time to do dumb crap like the HO trade.

THIS. So much exactly this. The Johns are rushing this thing and I am convinced they are going to slam our competitive window closed in the process.

This team and system should be positioned to dominate the East for several years starting around 2019. They're going to piss it all away to chase a longshot wildcard in 2018. Dangit.
