Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

If it's fair, I won't oppose a trade for a controllable piece, but I just don't get everyone's willingness to trade off top arms. If it's the 2018 trade deadline and we're clearly competing, then great. But it seems too early -- especially for a pitcher, though talented, who is injury-prone. I would have been way more inclined to grab Quintana, even at the price, because I trust his arm. Just my thoughts.

If Allard is the centerpiece, then I think we should give Gray a go.

Not me. I would consider it for fulmer.

Braves should look at it as 2 years. I think he's going to the brewers to be with his vandy coach. He's in arm years so they will not be cheap. The .5 this year doesn't help us.

I wouldn't do anyone in our top 8. Gohara or Anderson would be my centerpiece.

Braves prospects on twitter was saying Alex Cobb is a free agent and putting up gray like numbers. Just buy him.. I honestly don't know who Cobb is

Nobody in the top 25 for two yrs of gray. Bottom top 50 bottom top 100 and sims

If you are going all in what about

Fulmer for albies allard Riley Cabrera bc he throws 200

Gray for gohara Pache sims

Fulmer
Gray
Folty
Tehran
Newcombe

Still have Newcombe Swanson acuna, maitan soroka Anderson wentz mueller Wright waters d Peterson minter etc

I'd really rather include Anderson instead of albies but I assume we'd have to give up albies for fulmer

Maybe if you take on Zimmerman deal from the tigers...but that's an awful deal

I prefer the monster deal from tigers
Fulmer Zimmerman verlander if we can afford it. They don't want to send money so they take kemp as a dh

Braves send Newcombe Blair allard Riley sims gohara pache

Next yr
Verlander
Fulmer
Folty
Tehran
Zimmerman

Eats up all our money. Albies to 2b. Srod to play 3b and lf. Comargo for 3b 2b ss. Maybe Ruiz.

Line up would not be great. But you could do ff at 3b thing. You could bring up acuna. You could used d Peterson. 2019 your lf is Peterson and rf is acuna. Cut Zimmerman or make him expensive long relief and soroka to 5

If we're making a play for Gray now then I'd assume we're trying to flip players who are at peak Value. I think Sims and Camargo fit as well as being major league ready. Gohara, Bryse, and Pache have all had some helium this year as well.

The more I think about it I'm convinced the Braves are going to trade for Verlander, hopefully jettisoning some of the corner outfield dead weight in the process to offset the cost.

Assuming Markrapass is the outfielder going back to DET (we all know God hates the Braves too much for anyone to take on Kemp), what kind of prospect(s) would we have to attach to make a deal work for both teams?

The insistence that the Twins pay Garcia's remaining salary is a hint that Verlander is a bit more likely than Gray.

Why would the Tigers dump Verlander to get rid of his salary and then take back salary in the process?

It's unlikely the Tigers can completely 'dump' the $56MM (possibly $78MM) Verlander is due in the future. Either they would offset that amount by sending cash or they would take back a player(s) with smaller financial commitments.

Gray seems to be overrated on this board. He's decent, but he's not a top of the rotation type pitcher. I just don't get the desire to trade any combo of high upside players for a 2/3 type starter. Plays in a pitchers park. He's basically a young version of Porcello.

Because $28,000,000 X 2 years (potentially with another $22,000,000 if the option vests) > $11,000,000 X 1 year

The prospect(s) going to Detroit would be the key.

He's basically a good Julio and lots of people on here thought Julio was an ace.
