Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Gomez:The Braves had offered Nelson Cruz a one-year guaranteed contract offer plus a team option with certain clauses for a second-year, but Nelson was looking for two guaranteed years, as the Nationals finally agreed with him.

Bob Nightengale:

The trade tonight shows that the #Yankees are sticking to their plan all along and have no intention of signing free agent shortstop Carlos Correa or Trevor Story. They don't want to block their prized shortstop prospects.

Gomez: Now that the Nationals have agreed to a deal with Nelson Cruz, the Dodgers are intensifying on pursuit on Jorge Soler, per @mikedeportes.

Jon Heyman:

Yankees see Anthony Rizzo as the realistic good first base option now, and will try to make that work. Their expectation, as is the case with most, all along has been that the Freeman sweepstakes is between the Braves and Dodgers.

Targeting Cruz means the plan was to stick Ozuna in LF full time. The news Acuna won’t be back until May, which could extend into June, means the Braves would have had an OF of Ozuna, Duvall and Heredia for at least a month. And the bench OF option is…some guy in the stands?

Talk about an awful plan.
