Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

I know Max is good, but he's old and the Braves have been pretty good against him.

I do not expect the Mets to be particularly good on defense.

But again, it's not my money and there is no cap, so if Cohen wants to pay everyone 50 million more, then he can. Doesn't stop them from putting FF on the team and move Alonso to DH. He can have a 500 million payroll if he wants.

It's still the Mets and we still have dynamic young players so I think we will still win.

Very interested to see what Seager and Correa go for given this spending spree.

Mets start pre- Spring Training celebration practice already?

Scherzer's the one move that really makes them alot better. Cant even deny a 1-2 of DeGrom-Scherzer is incredible. The 3 bats they added help but they're basically replacing who were already on the team (Baez and Conforto), unless they end up keeping Baez too.

Yes but we learn the bullpen is the most important piece for a playoff team. I don’t doubt they try to sign Kirby Yates.

Yates is out for 2022, he had TJ, probably gonna take a 2-yr deal to get him. Similar to Kahnle's deal with the Dodgers.

Would anyone else pay Castellanos 7/150M before going all in on FF at 6/200?????

Absolutely not. Nick cost a draft pick and is terrible defensively. I'd prefer to not go 6 years with Freddie but it's probably gonna take that much to keep him.

Nevermind then, i'd take Yates on a 1 yr flier. Mets will probably give them 1 year 30 million since money doesnt matter lol.

Scherzer deal is crazy. I can't wait to see how the Mets FA splurge pans out in 2-3 years.
FA splurge on mostly short term contracts with an owner that seems willing and happy to pay the luxury tax indefinitely. I imagine other large market owners are going to push heavily for increased CBT penalties.

It will be interesting to see how Cohen’s willingness to spend changes if the Mets don’t make the playoffs over the next couple seasons.
