I would assume First Order of Business, perhaps announced at the parade, would be Freddie's extension. I just can't fathom telling your foundation cornerstone goodbye immediately after winning the World Series. The Braves could pretty easily give him a huge number and just front load it so it gets smaller as Albies and Acuna get bigger.
Second Order of Business should be voiding Ozuna's contract on the basis of a breach of the morals clause.
Third Order of Business could be Duval. He seems like he fits our needs pretty well. He can handle CF if Pache can't handle the bat again. If Pache sticks, he can settle in as a LF opposite Acuna or if we've upgraded LF, he can be a 4th OF/DH. If that's an arbitration 1 year deal for the $9 million projected by MLBtraderumors, it seems worth the price.
Fourth Order of Business should be cleaning up the 40 man roster. There are a lot of arbitration eligible guys that shouldn't be brought back. In addition, we need to find out if there is ANY market for Touki and Newk. I have both as being out of options at this point. Definitely check me on that one. Both had shots at the rotation. Both have had shots at the pen. I'd hat to lose talented arms for nothing, but results matter. Need to find them new homes and hope to win the lottery on a lower level prospect coming back.
Then you can go out and figure out who wants to play for a World Series title every year for the next 4 years of their contract and might be willing to take a little less for the opportunity. Specifically targeting a pen piece, a solid back-up IF and a DH/LF type.
I wouldn't spend a dime on the starters.
I don't think we have the goods for a blockbuster trade. They are fun to discuss, but there are reasons we aren't clamoring to hang onto our higher rated prospects. I remember when we dealt Wainwright to the Cards. Whatever Board I was on at the time - melted down... rightfully so.
