Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Conforto and Thor both get QO's from the Mets. Conforto likely to reject per DiComo, tbd on Thor (he should probably accept then hit FA in a year but who knows).

Astros offered Correa 5 years/160 million, thats probably nowhere near what Correa gets.

Was listening to a Braves podcast. Said if Ozuna's suspended the whole year, that money doesnt count towards our payroll. Half the season, etc. I know it's unpopular here, but i'd take Ozuna back if he's only suspended for like 1/3 of the season or so. It'll be hard to carry Soler and Ozuna both on the roster though, in my hypothetical.

Also just realized if the Mets sign someone with a QO, they have to give up the 14th overall pick in the draft. Interesting. Since they have two 1sts.

Yep, that hinders them big time from signing one of the top free agents. Wasn't sure they were going that route anyway. Just bringing back the guys they had last year would probably push them into luxury tax.

Baez, Stro, Thor, and a non-QO outfielder with a couple BP arms isnt a bad offseason for them.

Is crazy that last year Mets gave prospects for Lindor and then this year with so many shortstops free agent. They should trade any prospects for a different position player.

Their new owner is over anxious to make a splash. There's no doubt he's the one calling the shots over there. Why do you think so many GM candidates are turning down the job. The Baez trade also looks pretty bad, especially because they will likely end up signing him also.

They didnt really trade that much for him, since they took on Carrasco too. The Baez trade was dumb though, given what they gave up. But yeah, given how deep the IF market is they could have just waited it out and kept their prospects and got a couple this winter w/o giving up anything. Will certainly be interesting what they do this offseason given they'd have to give up the 14th pick to sign someone with a QO attatched to them.

QO offers so far, i think confirmed.

Ray, Semien, Story, Seager, Castellanos, Thor and Conforto. Obviously alot more to come, deadline is 5 ET today i believe.

Also interesting they added Alan Rangel to the major league roster.

He's probably a six-year free agent and could have gone anywhere without restrictions on the team that signed him unless he went on our 40-man. I doubt anyone would have taken him in the Rule 5, but he did have a performance uptick this season (big jump in K-rate) and they probably want to keep him in the system.

Found this rather interesting too. There has to be something they're seeing in the StatCast numbers that we can't though - wish the numbers-guys here could get a look at them.

He was actually eligible for the Rule V Draft last winter, so it's hard to imagine it was just the K-Rate. His WHIP and BAA dropped, and only 3 of the 11 HRs he gave up came after July 17th - wonder if that signals he added a new pitch or something they'd had him working on finally took hold? In his last 4 starts in June he struck out 8 or 9 hitters, then he only had one start in July where he struck out less than 7.

Rangels K rate spiked big time this year while maintaining a mid 40's GB rate. His k rate increased from his 2017 low each season some something must be 'clicking'.

Freeman has gotten this far so he’s not taking as big of a discount as we hope. I think 30 per is where he’s gonna want to be.

this guy has made $133 million in salary in his career.

so what, 25 million a year isn't enough now? great. go braves.

if freddie freeman truly was the nicest guy in the world, why ever take any salary again? give it to charity. the whole world is ****ed if this is where we are.

Players deserve to be compensated at a market rate regardless of how high that number is. It would suck if he prices himself out of Atlanta's price range but I have no issue with players getting what they are worth. Baseball is a huge business and I will always support players getting that money over the owners.
