I ask this I think every time, but has anyone ever really become a great pitcher after leaving Coors?

Tough to say but i thought Gray would get alot more than that though. Was a little surprised some of the analytical teams werent in on him (Rays, Giants, Braves even, Dodgers to name a few, Astros too). At that price at least.

Dodgers dont seem to want to go more than 2 years on Scherzer. Mets offer is 3 years/129, thats crazy. Mets payroll right now per cots is 220+ mil, Cohen clearly doesnt care about money. I dont know if anyone is coming close to that offer unless there's a mystery team out there.

Maybe Max Scherzer is Bobby Bonilla 2.0!! 😂

Do they have enough money to add Stroman and upgrade the bullpen?

I mean if they're at 260+ mil after Scherzer, clearly money is no obstacle lol. Stroman doesnt seem to be coming back to the Mets though. Probably add some bullpen pieces and maybe see what happens on Baez.

Eduardo Rodriguez is younger and better and only got 15.4 AAV. So 14 AAV for Gray sounds right based on that. Matz got 11 AAV. That seems to be the range for the 2-3+ WAR pitcher right now.

Freeman is a must, obviously. I dont see AA paying the price for Mullins or Reynolds but he doesnt leak anything so who knows what hes thinking. I think we'll try in-house on the BP or wait for someones value to drop. The outfield and Freeman is where we need to figure out mostly, as well as a veteran SP since we have no idea what to expect from Soroka.

I know the Mullins/Reynolds train seems to be gaining steam in here, but I just don't see a match. I don't think we can put together a prospect package enticing enough unless the Pirates and the Orioles overdose on stupid pills.

I'm not sure why folks think Gray is bound for some sort of breakout.

His FA the last 3 seasons spun at 2113 RPM at 95.3 mph, and his breaking ball at 2328.

For comparison, Morton was at 2307 and 95.0 with the FA, and 2960 on the curve.

I don't see anything obvious with his spin rates that suggest he's ready to become a monster once he pitches in thicker air. Perhaps some team thinks they know how to unlock more spin rate based on info we can't access? Most likely he's just a good middle of the rotation guy (using "just" knowing a 2-3 win guy is a great asset), even outside Coors.

Heyman: Max Scherzer and the Mets are finalizing $130M, 3-year deal. Minor details to go only.

That's a lot of ****ing money. I'd laugh so hard if this is the year Max starts to falter. And assuming no deferrals here and a straight 43 million per year then he is going to collect a cool 58 million in salary in 2022. lmao
