Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

I love that after one day of the new CBA that everyone is hoping the Braves don’t overspend on FF.

I hope we keep him but i also know 1B dont age well. Maybe Freeman beats the odds but i mean we've already offered 5 years/130+ or so. Thats a more than fine offer for a 32 year old 1B. If someone wants to offer 5/140+ or guarantee a 6th year for him, then good for FF. And let AA go to work on other ideas.

This all day. Why should the team look like the bad guy for not over paying and not the player for taking less? AA has made a good offer and I trust him not to over pay for an aging player. If FF leaves bc he wants the most money possible then he can go.

Bowden: The #Braves are making every effort to bring Freddie Freeman back being aggressive with packages with different years and dollars…#Dodgers going hard too….decision by Freeman looms…tick tock

What is so hard to understand that perhaps Freddie simply wants to be closer to home. Conversely, every mention of Olson being a fit for the Braves emphasizes his origin being Atlanta.

Yup - Seems to make sense.

Only teams like hte Dodgers can afford the risk of giving a big contract out for a 32 year old first basemen.

Lets the Braves build the best team possible otherwise.

I just wish Freddie would choose so AA can finish building his team. He can’t do anything until this is resolved.

No one appreciates the fact that we raised the luxury penalties only to benefit the haves and have nots. We were never going to increase our payroll.

Lets wait and see what actually happens in free agency/trades, etc before we know what our payroll is gonna be this year.

It’s not about increasing the payroll. It’s about not overpaying a 32 year old in 5 years. It’s a business in the end and we don’t have an unlimited budget. Riley, Fried and others will need contracts coming up to and there will be other big holes to fill like SS next year. We already offered FF our biggest contract ever and to be the highest paid 1b in the league. I agree with AA on this one. This is on FF at this point.

You're right. McCann was pretty bad in 2012 to the point he was benched in favor of Kevin Ross for the wild card game. 2013 was a slight bounce back but pretty sure we all knew it was the end, we simply didn't feel he was worth his asking price as he entered age 30.

I’ve been jamming this Kevin Ross song on my playlist for a few months solid.
