Cancel that. Scherzer dropped his appeal
He done lying now, I guess
For league minimum, I would think a non contender or someone like the Phils and see if they can improve him. If he makes it to the Dodgers, I could see them grabing him.
Cancel that. Scherzer dropped his appeal
So yes, he cheated.
This whole thing still stinks. Wish they would drop it. Worried the speed of the game but the take the time to check pitchers multiple times a game. Give me a break.
Doesn't the check happen after the pitcher is leaving the mound between half innings?
Seems there's reasonable enough time to check it when the other team hasn't gotten on thr field yet.
It is checked in between innings. In Scherzers case, he had 3 checks in the game before his ejection. The first one, they told him to go wash his hands, which he did with an MLB representative present, the second one they noticed a sticky substance on his glove while his pitching hand was clean, so they told him to replace the glove. The finally they checked his hands again and his hands were worse than the first time and that led to the ejection.
He said the representative made him wash it with alcohol which made it stickier. Hilarious incompetence if true, but completely believable.
Alcohol is actually supposed to get rosin off your hands. Again, it was pointed out by the umps that ejected him that his hands were clean on the second check, and even sticker than before on the third check.
Our old pal Drew Smyly is shoving for the Cubs. He's currently tossing a perfect game through five innings with seven Ks and only 63 pitches. Also, the Dodgers kind of reek now.
