boy oh boy, I am glad the Braves didn't bet on 40 year olds to anchor the rotation. I know old man Mort is on our staff, but he really could be our 4th or 5th best starter and not be that huge of a deal.

Not a scoreboard watcher in early May but nice to see the Mets get swept by Detroit, topped off with a shutout today.

Well if the Braves win today, they will have a 6 game lead in the division over the Mets and Marlins. and 7 over the Phillies.

Doesn't matter what time of the year it is, it is nice to have that buffer.

Granted still plenty of time as we saw last year, but this team really is built differently. And with less head to head games against the Mets and Marlins, it makes it tougher for them to come back.
 
Was looking at the standings, I know it is early on, but what a strange division the NL Central is right now.

Pirates 20-12 5-5 (last 10) lost their last 4 in a row
Brewers 18-13 1.5 GB 3-7 (last 10) lost 4 in a row
Cubs 15-16 4.5 GB 3-7 (last 10) lost 3 in a row
Reds 13-18 6.5 GB 6-4 (last 10) lost 1 in a row
Cardinals 10-22 10 GB 1-9 (last 10) lost 6 in a row

I enjoy dancing on the Cardinals grave as much as anyone but they have devil magic. I’m sure they’ll go 24-2 in August and somehow win that division anyways.
