Arcia's defense is what has made him into a legit regular this year. It's been shockingly good. I think even the Braves have been surprised.

Old braves getting knocked for being in the lineup and playing every day if they are able.
Amazing.
Can you point me to the post where that happened?

It didn't this time, but has a lot in the past.
I retract the statement.
It's quite interesting because other than Andruw, Bobby actually liked resting his regular players.
This is why we all know the Bobby Sunday Special Lineups. Bobby believed in his bench guys getting ABs to stay sharp. And on a Sunday lineup his regular guys could be plugged in to pinch hit anywhere in the lineup during the game in a situation where they might be needed.
So I have no idea why Freddie and Dansby took it upon themselves to play everyday all the time. Has to he a Snit thing.
Fredi actually mentioned the Sunday Bobby Lineups thing before and he asked Bobby why he never aggressively played regulars on Sundays to go for sweeps.
Shorter benches because of longer bullpens. Bobby had two (sometimes three) more bench guys than Snitker has (of course, the absence of the DH required a longer bench). Plus, there currently isn't a back-up infielder on the team. Just another way the game has changed.
I've been impressed with his fundamentals. Was a solid prospect in AA, so base-level talent is there.
I'm seeing more and more players making significant forward steps past age 25. Don't know if Arcia continues this level of play, but he certainly has stepped things up beyond what most expected.

Snitker didn’t rest his players before the DH.
Yeah, he was actually heralded for his glove coming up. His defense has been down the last couple of years. It might be he didn't get much playing time at SS and he's just not good anywhere else or it could be he's a guy who needs consistent reps to keep his glove where it should be. I had suspected he'd lost some speed as some guys do in their mid 20s but his defensive resurgence this year proved that unfounded.
His sprint speed is slow but must have decent reads and quick feet
I mean so has the .871 OPS and 138 wRC+ lol... I get it that he's had some real luck but his xwOBA is still .340 which is pretty dang good. I know that you will refuse he's become a better offensive player until you are blue in the face, but news flash... he's definitely a better offensive player than he was.
He was projected to be about a .740 OPS player and he's hitting essentially an expected .780. So he's not super far from his projections. He's definitely hit better than projected but if he was playing below average defense at short, he'd still be difficult to play everyday.
Above average defense hitting like he has, he's solid.
23-0 in the 5th. Lol
London game.I thought for once I got up early enough to beat the stupid Sunday early game - nope! The Cubs/Cards started at 9am local time. What is this, little league?
