Official Around Baseball 2023 Thread

Burnes is really the only front line guy they have though. Miley is 36 and has never really been anything special. Peralta had one good year 2 years ago and has regressed/stayed injured since.

If Woodruff comes back healthy, he’s really good.

And of course, our boy Julio is gunning for that comeback player of the year

Burnes also has a FIP north of 4 and a 3.96 ERA.

Not sure what's up with him but he's a far cry from what he was last year let alone his cy young season.

There isn't a team in the NL that's even remotely scary right now....besides the Braves.

Everyone really needs to vote for Ezequiel Duran and Jarren Duran for the AL. Simply because of the endless jokes we would hear about Duran Duran.

Braves killing it up and down the ballot. Arraez is batting .400 and he’s barely holding off Ozzie lol

Apparently Arraez is a butcher and a bad baserunner? Albies is only 0.5 behind in fWAR. There are 3 things helping Albies. He has name recognition, he's playing on the Braves while the team is good, and his 17 homers and 52 RBI. That's a 38hr and 117 rbi pace which is normally wild for a 2B. I fully expect Arraez to win the starting spot but Ozzie is making a strong case to be selected as a reserve with his power numbers.

Few things of note.

Braves only have 1 more loss than the Ray's right now who have the best record in baseball.

Reds have won 10 in a row and leas the Central.

Angels somehow find themselves in a wild card spot.

Braves yet again have the biggest division lead in baseball.

Braves play the Reds this weekend, thats gonna be a good test.

Reds are playing over their heads (nice rhyme). They’ll come crashing back down and it’ll be against us.

Angels are also playing well despite Trout having probably the worst slump of his career over the last 44 games. Certainly is strange. From a quickview of their BR page, the only guy that really stands out is Ohtani.

Any team winning 10 games in a row is playing over their heads. The Reds Pythag is 36-38, which isn't far off their actual record of 39-35. It also does not account for the recent additions of De La Cruz and Votto. Their SP is pretty bad, but their offense is legit.

The NL Central is so bad that the 35-38 Cubs could be in first place with a perfect week.

I wouldn’t be surprised if St. Louis ended up winning that division even though their pitching is terrible

Hope Toronto hangs on given it's not a great matchup for Atlanta tonight.
