Phillies fans getting awfully cocky on Twitter this month:

This month:
Braves have scored 20 more runs than Philadelphia and gained on them in the division.

The Phillies have had 15 games against the Royals, Angels, Nationals, and Cardinals in this time span.

Just like Dodger$ fan$, they think if their team plays well for 3-4 weeks that is who they are. The Braves have been playing that way for 3 months. The Braves will shut them up shortly after they shut down the dodger$

And he was at 125 pitches and Kapler had no one warming up for some inexplicable reason. Now he’s delaying the game to get someone loose.

I know that no-hitters are exceedingly rare, but it's crazy to me to think of all the great pitchers we've had come through this organization over the last 25-30 years and yet our last no-no was Kent Mercker in 94, who wasn't even a full time starter. Even crazier that Mercker also was part of our next most recent no-no, a combination no-no with Wohlers and Pena in 91

Dodgers are 2nd in baseball in runs scored, 4th best run differential in baseball, their X-L is only 2 games above what they are. Dodgers are damn good, and i'll be more than happy if we can just split in LA the way they're playing.

And Millwood being traded and immediately throwing one

Dodgers are good but the Braves are a tier above them this year. Also the Braves match up really well with them.

Their rotation consists of 2 lefties which the Braves have crushed this year, a rookie, and a horrible Lance Lynn.

Urias and Kershaw have been pitching very well the last 2 months, Miller shut us down in Atlanta, and Lynn has been solid for them. I do think the Braves have the better team, but getting HFA over them is key. We suck playing in LA, like every year. Most interesting thing with Miller is he's approaching a career high with innings. But sounds like LA will let him keep going.

LA doesn't have a choice. He is their Strider right now and I will be surprised if he is effective in the playoffs against better comp. nothing against the kid, just that wall hurts when you do hit it.

Urias and Kershaw pitchng well is fine. Braves have a 895 OPS against lefties as a team this year.

Lynn has had solid results. He has not been a solid pitcher. There is a differnce.

He's been very lucky. His last start he gave up 11 base runners and 2 of those were homers, yet somehow only managed to surrender 3 ER. He will morph back into the back of rotation type of pitcher soon enough.

The real worry with LA is will they put in a claim for one of these recent waivers. I could totally see Giolito going to the Dodgers and morphing back into the mid rotation pitcher he was a month ago, which would be very unfortunate. Hopefully he gets claimed before that.

Dodgers have the 2nd to last waiver spot. Hard to see him fall that far but yeah, wouldnt like the Dodgers getting their hands on a guy that talented.

I agree. It seems unlikely AL contending teams would pass over Giolito, Moore, and Clevinger. Of course, money could play into that decision, but still it seems unlikely. And I especially don't see the Phillies and their "stupid money" passing on the chance to add a potential impact SP for free.

Harper hit a go-ahead two-run homer (his 300th) against the Angels in the eighth, and LA scored three in the ninth to take the lead and eventually win 10-8.

This whole waiver crap is so stupid.. so because a couple of teams decided to be really, really stupid.. less players were available to trade for and when the really really stupid teams realized how stupid they were/are.. they stick them out there for crappy playoff teams to all of a sudden get better without any penalty.. while great teams like the O's, Braves, Rays and Dodger$ get penalized for being a smart org from the beginning of the season.

Giolito, Lopez, and Moore all claimed by the Guardians. They are only 5 games behind the Twins, so pretty savvy moves for them that cost nothing and gives them a puncher's chance at making the playoffs. I figured claims worked the same way they do in FF where you go to the end of the line if put in a claim for even 1 player, but apparently that isn't the case. I do wonder where Clevinger ends up. Hopefully not on LA.

Yeah, they should make it that if you claim someone, then you get sent to the back of the waiver order. That way one team can’t just load up with a bunch of good players.
