No team in the middle of a contention window would trade elly for albies right now. Albies is under control for 2 less years but likely will make less and perform more than elly for the rest of their deals.

I don’t think the Braves would either. Taking an unknown for a known that will be cheaper. I also think Ozzie is only one less year. Brave hold the two options so this year plus 4 more. Reds have this year plus 5 more for Elly.

Crazy to think that the Phillies would have to play at 54-11 over their next 65 games and the Braves would have to play around 11-55 over their next 66 for the Phillies to over take them. That would be a 134 win pace for the Phillies lol.

And for those curious, the magic number is 55....in July lmao.

There are 66 games left for the Braves and 65 for the Phils. If the Braves go 33-33 over that span they'll finish with 96 wins. The Phillies would have to go 44-21 to tie us. That's a .676 win %.

Happy for Fred McGriff. He still has one of the prettiest left handed swings. He hit some absolute moonshots when he was able to get extended.

Yeah, that's nowhere close to true. Your math is a weeee bit off.

Chavez to the 60...he must have stepped on a landmine and blew his leg off.

Probably just freeing up room on the 40 more than anything. He's been out more than month at this point, and he'll likely need another week or so of throwing without pain in his leg and then a couple of outings in AAA . That pretty much puts him out to the 1st full week of August anyways, which is nearly a full 60 days.

It can provide some trade deadline flexibility.

Nothing says Sunday Night Baseball like NL East #4 at AL East #4

At this point, they only schedule Sunday Night Baseball a few weeks out unless it's Boston-Yankees.
