Official Draft Day, Post-Draft Thread

I hope they don't rush Wright to MLB that quickly, but I could see them handling him very similarly to Minor. Whether he starts in high or low A probably has more to do with available rotation slots than anything else.

Or which pitching coach they want him to work with.

Braves have Freeman and Adams. They don't need Beer. At least, that's what I read about them not needing McKay.

Doubtful Adams will be a Brave past 2018. If Freeman's power is suddenly gone post-broken wrist, then I expect 1B may become a priority. That's how I'm playing it in my head anyway. Really want Beer.

No need to rush him, unless we make a few rather large trades. I don't even know how they are going to find room to give the starters ahead of him a shot in the pros.

By the time Beer would possibly ready to come to the majors Freddie will be going into the last year of his contract with us anyway, so he'd make a ton of sense regardless. He could be a LF with defensive issues for a year if he's ready that fast and then slide to first.

Considering no corner OFer could play defense bad enough to make them a below average player overall if they post a .900 OPS, this plan is a no-brainer.

This is why you always draft BPA regardless if they are currently blocked by a superstar. These things have a way to work themselves out. Freeman should not be the reason to not draft Beer if he is available and the BPA.

Is Beer a Braves fan? If so, that will allow the Braves to sign him under slot.

Is he a fan of scouting minor league players like Greinke? Being able to scout a good farm system was supposed to get the Braves a discount too.

Way, way too early to get worked up about this. 360 or so days can change a lot of things. I will probably take a first look 180 days out, then start to get serious 90 days out.

Not seeing any reports on Waters signing...getting pretty late in the day on the East Coast...wonder if it's happening.

Guy named Dean Miller (not the 37th round pick) congratulates Jordan Rodgers' signing on Sunday.
