Official Draft Day, Post-Draft Thread

If they screwed up the entire draft (which is a small possibility since they should have signed all the low money picks before committing huge money to Wright), the pozzy-Barves will still be here spinning and derping to defend them haha.

I don't think there's more than a 5% chance they have screwed this up though. This FO is average, and average FOs can handle the draft.

Average FO. That's cute.

I've never seen such sensitivity about the FO in my 20 years of being a Braves fan.

It's almost gotten political

Huh? The Anthony deal last year was embarrassing and a pretty dumb mistake...but it also has no bearing on the top 10 guys this year.

You might want to look in the mirror to see who's being sensitive here, like you can't accept the fact that not everyone wants to burn the FO down.

They mucked up Josh Anthony's stuff, but it really doesn't have bearing on top-10 picks.

Picks 11+ are drafted without really exact ideas on how much they'll sign for; the top-10 picks must be vetted and planned out much more carefully. They really aren't that comparable.

Still makes little difference - kinda wonder if someone didn't goof.

Slot for Bacon is $487,400 - IF he would sign for that.

Let's assume everyone in rounds 5-10 signed for $10,000 each. That's $60,000, leaving you with only $370,260 for Bacon. If he doesn't sign for that we lose his money against the cap, meaning we're already over the 5% we're allowed to go.

Bacon signing announced an hour ago (2 p.m. Monday). Price TBA.

Justin Morhardt (22nd) confirmed yes on his Twitter page. Not assuming all the seniors are on board; wanting a confirmation on each.

Morhardt (Bryan College, Dayton, Tenn.) one of only two Chattanooga area players drafted this year.

Not bragging, but we are slaughtering the other sites' signing lists. Not making anything up, either.

The point was that the FO screwed up a financial decision in last year's draft.

They also screwed something up with regards to a roster situation last year as well.

They've proven a few times they don't know all the rules. so I'm not ready to blindly assure myself that they handle everything correctly.

Again, I was not concerned that they would screw it up. But I acknowledge that they're clearly capable of it.

Everyone feels the way they feel.

Fair.

I just tend to think it would be so difficult to muck up the top-10 that its not worth worrying about. Nobody messes it up and yet every year there's people who fret about it. Last year it was Neslony (IIRC) that people were worried might cost too much. These teams do too much due diligence on their top picks, its not willy-nilly. When they sign a guy like Tarnok for overslot, it should make people feel better, they aren't giving him $1.4million at this point unless they know what they are signing everyone else for.

Just makes people feel better when those reports are coming from somewhere other than the players' Twitter pages. The only CONFIRMED signings thus far are the top three guys.

Does this make you feel any better? Not just getting stuff from Player Twitter pages. Since you don't know my background, I won't be insulted. Ain't makin' it up.

Never inferred that you were - given the "Trump World" we all live in these days, I'm sure we'd all prefer 4 or 5 sources!!!

John Curtis (8th), lefty closer type and a senior, has indicated he's come to terms and was on his way over the weekend.

No shock here -- Jason Rooks (35th) has reaffirmed his commitment to Ga. Tech. According to MaxPreps, he has "decommitted" to the Braves!

Braves signed their 6th round pick for $5k and their 7th for $1k.

Has anyone ever seen such tiny bonuses for guys taken that high? I thought $10k was as low as these bonuses typically got.

Ive never seen 1k before.

Whoever agreed to that is a get along kind of guy. Almost wonder if he even intends on reporting.

These guys are in bad spots, but I can guarantee this kid that if he'd say given me 10,000 or I'm going to blow up your draft the Braves would have complied.
