Official Draft Day, Post-Draft Thread

The thing is the Twins signed Lewis for $6.7 million, which is only $300,000 below the $7 MM Wright appears to be willing to sign for. I don't know how interested the Twins were in Wright, as it seems McKay was the guy they liked better. That would make your scenario plausible.

It could be that Wright quoted a higher price to the Twins. Maybe 7.5 or 8 mil. I'm assuming that would reflect a preference to sign with the Braves over the Twins. So in signing Lewis for 6.7, the Twins could well have saved a million or so. Makes sense if they valued Lewis and Wright about the same.

Curious thing to me is that the Twins need pitching in the worst way.

They took a hitter with their supplemental pick, but took pitchers with the next three picks. Will be interesting to see where the money they saved on Lewis goes.

Plus they always have the option to trade with us once our era of Pitching Surplus arrives.

I'll take one Miguel Sano please.

RHP Cade Cavalli (29th) said he'd be willing to sign if the Braves meet his number, regarless of the round. Might this be a last minute steal (signed with Oklahoma)

Cavalli said, "I'm ready to start my pro career ... but I'm very happy with the college I've chosen."

Was hopeful the Braves had wiggle room to negotiate. I doubt it but don't write Cavallit off yet.

It's all coming togethor

5-10 all college seniors, right? If so, they'll be super cheap

Still makes little difference - kinda wonder if someone didn't goof.

Slot for Bacon is $487,400 - IF he would sign for that.

Let's assume everyone in rounds 5-10 signed for $10,000 each. That's $60,000, leaving you with only $370,260 for Bacon. If he doesn't sign for that we lose his money against the cap, meaning we're already over the 5% we're allowed to go.

They wouldn't have drafted Bacon without knowing his number.

Surprised at how much Tarnok was overslot. Wow.

How much did our round 6, 7, 9, and 10 sign for? Did you factor that money in?

Maybe this is clearer...

Total Pool Money - $9,881,200

5% Overage Allowance - $10,375,260

5.) Kyle Wright - $7,000,000

41.) Drew Waters - $1,500,000

80.) Freddy Tarnok - $1,445,000

Total - $9,945,000

If Picks 5-10 sign for $10,000 each - $60,000 - that puts you at $10,005,000 with Bacon unsigned.

IF 5-10 all sign for $10,000 each, that only leaves $370,260 for Bacon.

So, Rodgers (6th), hughes (7th), Delgado (9th), and Belinda (10th) signed for 10k? I have no idea... can't find any details on what they signed for, but see their names are in bold

No one else has reported that they've signed (yet) or what their bonuses might be. Got a tweet from Jonathon Mayo yesterday saying that their signing tracker was going to be posted and updated soon, but as of now they only have us signing our top 3 picks.

Hopefully that will be plenty for someone that hasn't pitched outside of the bullpen since high school. I would think they have an idea. I hope. Maybe he's a cheap sign.

I certainly hope so. That's still cutting it entirely too close for me with Bacon yet to sign.

they wouldn't have picked him without knowing what he would sign for. They wouldn't have signed Tarnok overslot without having a really good idea of Bacon's number.

We're not going to forfeit a draft pick.

Agreed. Bacon wasn't a guy ranked higher than where we picked him, he wasn't projected to be a top 3-4 round guy I don't think, so I'm sure we'll be able to get him under slot. And some of those seniors may sign for $5,000.
