Still a questionable deal in my opinion. I said what I said.he’s still a big upgrade at catcher.

Perhaps you didn't read the other pages, I said I reserve judgement because AA has done..yada...yada...So you think this was the last move?
Stop making sense. I've said the same thing, albeit less eloquently.I suspect if Ozuna was still an .800+ OPS DH and AA signed Swanson to an extension, none of us would be concerned about converting Contreras and Pina into Murphy. In fact, I imagine we'd all be pretty stoked about the move. But that isn't reality, and the context of the current reality is important. Using the most valuable trade chip AA has to upgrade from 5 wins at C/DH to 6 wins at C/DH (because he downgraded at DH) while still leaving LF/SS unaddressed and not freeing up any payroll is a headscratcher.
I suspect everyone is right and AA will address LF/SS/DH somehow in the coming weeks. Absent that information about the future, I'm still scratching my head about this trade in the same why I did when the Jiminez trade dropped.

AA is a smart dude. He checked in on Reynolds and they probably wanted Harris or Strider and that wasn’t happening. Maybe they want Grissom but we can’t trade him until we acquire somebody else. Either way AA will upgrade the holes to put us back in a really good position to make a deep playoff run. I’m curious to see what move is next.
This isn’t the last move AA is gonna make. Adding a top 3 at his position player is always a good thing. Contreras doesn’t really have a position outside of DH here so AA cashed a chip in.
In a vacuum we would love Contreras+Pina+filler for Murphy. I will definitely agree with that.
But the Brewers must be over the moon excited....Contreras plus filler for free.

But with the shedding of at least marginally interesting prospects in the Murphy deal, his only real tool is money. Nice tool to have, but outside of Grissom, we don't really have any minor league prospects that are remotely alluring.
True. I don’t see Reynolds moved before the deadline anyways. But Grissom and Anderson would be a good start.
Who were the teams in on Wilson Contreras?
Could the braves potentially sign Vasquez and trade TDA?
I probably have way too vivid an imagination
We dont have enough for Reynolds. They want a HAUL, like a Soto level deal. We dont have that. If AA knew we couldnt get Reynolds, cashing in on Contreras i guess wasnt the worst plan.

Then they’ll be very disappointed when Reynolds leaves and they get one draft pick out of it. Unless San Diego goes wild again with whatever is left in their system.
Vazquez signed with the Twins for 3/30.
